It was long after recent date with Mori. She had gone to several dates with Mori . Hisako could not help but attend them . She enjoyed it so much .
Lately , she felt ill. She noticed certain signs :
certain smells warranted nausea
occasional dizzy spells
endless fatigue from work
the tender feel of her breasts
Inorder to confirm her suspicions ; she partook a test .
Her mind wandered to the thousand scenarios each daunting . Her finger tapped . Her gaze fell upon the test .
Two lines in the test . Her fears confirmed . It was pregnancy
Her knees plummeted to the icy ground . Caustic tears flowed from eyes . Her mind berated herself and blamed her.

he hasn't seen Hisako in days but that was his own doing
he felt a bit of guilt having a feeling he caused something major without even being told yet but he kept his composure
today is the day he will talk to her about it and see if everything is alright
mori leaves his office and goes searching for Hisako
Hisako was not at work .
Hisako had taken a leave claiming "ill health"
Meanwhile , Hisako was at her home .
She rocked back in forth grappling with the implications . Hisako felt her blood freeze with dread .
mori stopped by the infirmary but was disappointed to not see her there
he picked up his phone to call her hoping she would pick up
hisako was alarmed by the phone . Hisako gingerly picked up the phone . Hisako stuttered
"Hello?"
Hisako. It's been a minute. Sorry for the sudden call but are you doing alright?
Hisako felt her words trapped in her mouth . Hisako hand slightly trembled .
Hisako after a moment utters
"Yes all okay"
Hisako head throbbed with the possibility of Mori leaving her or Mori treating her like a burden .
Hisako mind internally battled whether to reveal or keep it a secret .
She knew Mori would sense things are off because she has not been attending work for a couple of days .
Which was unlike her .
Her heart knocked against her ribs .
Alright just checking to make sure. I wanted to call and apologize for the last few weeks. I know I should have called sooner but I was being a coward since that night.
Hisako whispers half angrily and half sadly
"I see ofcourse could not have done it earlier"
Hisako felt a pang of anger and resignation . Her mind ponders maybe i was just a one night stand , he was not interested in me .
Her mind spiraled viciously .
I don't have fair skin , i have a heavy accent , i am impoverished , ....
Hisako awaited what he would say next.
No need to worry. I thought you needed some space but I do certainly hope you're alright. I was reckless that night and I didn't think if you would have been okay afterwards.
" Everything's all fine and you can get back to your work"
The words left an acrid taste on her tongue. She could not help but snap
You don't sound alright. What's wrong?
"i am okay ."
She said that to herself more than. Her voice more desperate on convincing herself .
Her head throbbed against her skull
Her field of vision blurred and cloudy .
Her mouth full of caustic bile . Her body trembled
I'm coming over. Just to check.
"No don't i am all okay do not come. Don't burden yourself"
She uttered abruptly
Hot sticky tears trailed across her cheeks . Her words broke . Her throat swallowed tartly .
She swiftly canceled the phone . Snapping it shut. Her shaking hand mustering energy tossed her phone away.
Hastily rose up unsteadily feeling her leg be watery .
Her head shook slightly . She took support of the wall .
Her mind berated herself
mori left his office anyways
he got in the car and drove over
it wasn't long until there was knocking on the door
she tremblingly and reluctantly opened the door

Hello. Good to see you. I brought you something.
he held out a small gift bag
Hisako reluctantly lets him in . Before he could notice she quickly took the three positive pregnancy tests away from his field of vision . However before she could realise it was too late
mori takes off his shoes and comes in putting down the bag
So why won't you tell me?

"Because it and I would be a burden on your side . I thought I would burden you and I would tarnish your reputation if anyone found out . I would be a liability for you"
She cried out . Keeping a distance from Mori ,
Her body trembled violently
mori sighed and puts a hand on her shoulder
Hey no need for that. We can figure this out. This was my fault. I should have been less reckless. Besides I'm not worried about my reputation. I'm the boss and if others have problem with that then they will deal with me.
"What part of this can you not understand , I will burden you and i will be a liability to you in this disposition that is the last thing i want to do and what will others think . They will think you have married an inferior person who is not Japanese. And this child"
Tear flowed freely . She fellt weak . her emotions unleashed
