Talk with Robby and Miguel
âRobby, sit down.â
(Robby): Whatâs up?
(Sighs. He isnât going to like this.) âCarmen and Diaz are coming over to talk. You two canât keep up this fighting stuff.â
(Robby):  âIâve got nothing to say to him. And I havenât been fighting with him. I havenât talked to him in days. Not since his little work girlfriend tried to start some shit with me. Iâm done. I donât care if I never see him again.â
âWell, then sit there and listen to what he has to say because you two are killing your Dad with this shit. It ends today. Understand me?â
(Robby): âYeah. Whatever. He can talk.â
(Rolls eyes and goes to answer the door.)

Miguel: âThis is so stupid. Why did you drag me here?â
âBecause I want my son back to the way he normally is, not this brooding mess youâve been for the past week.â
Miguel (offended):Â âWow, thank you.â
I try to affectionately fluff his hair, but he doges my hand. âMiguel, please, donât be angry. This is going to be put behind you, one way or another. Listen,â âMiguel looks at meâ âYou donât have to be friends but you also canât go on like this. Itâs not worth the energy-â
Miguel:Â âWhy donât you tell him that? Heâs the one that thatââ
âHow about you tell him, right now.â
(Rings the bell)Â
âMiggy, you donât have to be friends with this boy again if you donât want to, but you have to be civil. Youâre not doing yourself any good by letting it fester like this, and going over to your friendâs house to drink is not a solution I want you to be taking up. I really hope your hangover isnât too bad, because I have a feeling thereâs going to be yelling.â
The door opens, and weâre led inside (with Miguelâs extreme reluctance) where I see Robby in the other room, looking equally as wretched and unimpressed as Miguel. I nod hello, but I think heâs trying to avoid looking at either of us. Or anyone.Â
âSo⌠would you boys like a minute to discuss this alone?â
(Robby is staring out at the beach as if heâs trying to decide if he could make it around the house and out of dodge before I could catch him.)
âRobby?â
(Robby): âDoesnât matter to me. I ainât got shit to say to him. Public or private isnât going to change that. Iâve already told you and Dad that Iâm done. Heâs only here because he thinks Iâm going to screw up things for him with Sam anyway.â
âSee, this is why itâs impossible to talk to you. You admitted to me once that you tried to screw things up before, so why should I think that you wouldnât try to now!â
âYou certainly had a lot to say over text! Should I bring up all the crap you willingly say to me in private? I canât stand this. Youâre only calm in from of other people, and then everyone says Iâm overreacting! Youâre a hypocrite who fakes being nice!â
âFirst of all, Kope has seen the texts. All of them. I donât hide things. Second, Iâm not faking nice. Iâm not being nice at all. You just donât matter enough for me to mess with you anymore. And I donât have to screw things up with you and Sam. Iâll just have to sit back and watch you do it all on your own. â
âFuck you! You know I really envy the people who havenât met you yet! I wish Iâd never spoken to you.â
Carmen: âMiguel!â
âMama, Âżpor quĂŠ estamos aquĂ? ÂĄVea cĂłmo ĂŠl me estĂĄÂ embromando! (continues speaking rapid Spanish)
(Taking Miguel by the shoulders) "CariĂąo, cĂĄlmate. (gesturing towards Robby) "EstĂĄ tratando de irritarte... Si quieres arreglar esto, no puedes insultarlo asĂ y no maldigas de esa manera."
(Looks pleadingly to Rick)
