So me coded to wait until the last day of pride month smh but I’m so grateful for everyone who fought for my right to love girls and boys equally :))

Equality is SO important, and I’ve seen that within the fallout community and it fills me with so much joy!

That being said- I got put on some new meds, and they’re starting to take effect so I’m hoping I can come back in full swing ASAP! :)

Fallout does not leave my mind even now- I’ve collected more, played some more of 4, and decided my birthday party will be Fallout this year!! (Which also, I will be talking about at length because the ideas I have are coming together SWIMMINGLY!)

For some context, I am a *huge* theme park fan. I’ve been going to various parks all my life, falling in love with the history, mechanics, and storytelling; as well as simply being nostalgic for them.

However, for some reason- this never led me to HHN.

I've really wanted to go for the past few years, but to justify it (I live a drivable but *far* distance) I needed a house that got me super excited.

That wasn’t fallout though! It was FNAF- another interest of mine, as well as my friend Comet who went with me. Comet bought me fallout 3 about two weeks before we went for my birthday- I started playing, getting hyped for the house.

We started with Fallout, because the line was short. I had never done a haunted house before, and genuinely I felt like my body was vibrating. It was the BEST first experience I could have asked for, and so much stood out to me as genuine artistry. In that haunted house, something went off in my brain, and has led me DEEP into the chasm- but I love it :)

The outside of the house wasn’t much to talk about unfortunately. As pictured, I thought it might be AI because of the way it looked, but I don’t think it was upon closer inspection. Some houses have a really cool exterior, such as “El Artista: A Spanish Haunting”, which had you walk INTO a dilapidated house FROM the courtyard as the exterior, and FNAF where you enter the pizzeria.

At this time, I hadn’t seen the show *at all*. I’m not sure if this would have made it better, but I enjoyed it knowing only surface level fallout knowledge at the time. However, it did make me go home and watch the show, and I love it! Speaking of which, spoilers for the show ahead!

The house takes you through vault 33, the fallout 3 type music playing as you enter. (think less western than new Vegas I guess) It showed lots of the wedding scene paired with flickering lights and jump scares from raiders, Lucy -in her wedding dress!- and Steph with a fork in her eye. Honestly, especially after watching the show, I love this opening. People who have played the games know the true horrors of the vaults, so starting there is almost an omen of what is to come- while new/casual fans of the show notice the raider infiltration from the wedding scenes.

The visuals of the vault are so interesting. Because of the lighting, there's not much you can really see- and I think the designers know that. But what you *can* see, stands out- there are multiple porthole windows with the fake scenery plastic backing, signage with the vault boy, and curtains with 50's-ish patterns.

Ok. So before we continue, I have to admit something.

I *love* this house- like, called-my-partner-at-home-and-cried-a-little love this house. But upon rewatching some footage, (not taken by me) I realized the next part is actually so strange and makes 0 sense to me.

To sum it up quickly, you exit the vault and go into a room rounded off with blue curtains with a few vague color lines to look like it was outside. There were a few half walls with bodies around them- which is cool, they are skeletons so it leaves you to wonder a bit, but its such a nothing burger and poorly executed I think they just super needed a transition and forgot until the last two weeks.

I'll let it slide because the rest of the house is so good- and the other houses are just as, if not more detailed than this one, so, I'll be fine lol

All of that said though, it leads you outside- where the façades are so damn cool. There's metal garbage holding together a wall with a Nuka Cola vending machine in the middle and a jump scare of a man with an axe. Lots of unique different d NPC jump scares here, and it adds to the ramping up of being out of the vault very well. Iguna on a stick, Ma June, and little other easter eggs from the show and games are peppered in. To me, this honestly tied the entire scene together and the little faith I had lost had faithfully returned. Sorry universal team for ever doubting you.

I could sit here and describe every scene, but I don't think anyone wants that- however! Watch a walkthrough! The audio being there makes it 10x better anyways :)

But before we move on, some highlights:

The little New Vegas details were as you were leaving, so I have a delusional hope that this year they'll bring it back and do a play on season two.

The food was interesting, and I hate to say not the best I had -that was reserved for the spaghetti pizza I'm sorry- but! It was extremely themed and honestly that matters more to me.

I got the pickles because honestly I just love pickles, and got the RadAway drink for the container- it was a mocktail that was just strangely bitter, but my friend loved it, so maybe that's a me thing.

The theming around the stall and the super kind employees honestly made this worth any weird choices or flavors!

Most of the merch was sold out sadly, but I was able to snag a shirt -which i changed into in the bathroom thank you- and the Sugarbombs that you see on my cosplay! The theming in California had some higher highs, but sadly there wasn't much for this house. I knew that going into it, and it didn't bum me much!

Honestly, HHN was 100% worth it to me and I think I'm now locked in to go every year. It was my first time at the event, and at the parks since 2004 so I was a little confused at points, and every single employee was extremely kind, helpful, and one took a photo with me!

On this trip we also did some rides in the park, some resort exploring at Disney, and saw the Mac Tonight figure- so it felt like a very themed vacation and fulfilled a deep piece of my soul.
