This installation/work of art is called Watermark by Jennifer Baichwal and Edward Burtynsky. It is a three dimensional immersive audiovisual performance of scenes from the feature documentary film with the same name, made by the artists. The film explores how we as humans have impacted the nature around us. I think interprets how we as humans are slowly becoming the biggest impact of destruction to the nature around us, and that we should be the ones taking care of it. I really like this installation/work of art because Edward Burtynsky is one of my idolized photographers and any of his work really interests me and motivates me to become a better photographer. As we can see from this installation, not only is he a famed photographer but also a filmmaker--an artist. The installation was educational, an eye opener for most, and it's something, the film, that we should really see to be aware. A friend said that they liked the film and it's context, however, they felt like the setup of if as a cube didn't really work to its advantage.

The installation Pink Punch v.2 presented by Polymetis from New York was an installation like no other. It was my second time seeing this exhibit and I still cannot connect with it and still think it’s unsuccessful. The installation was trees that were covered with protective pink LED rope that then creates a glowing garden. I think the point they are trying to get across is that we should be aware of the trees that are planted in urban areas. I think I cannot understand it because it’s just a bunch of trees with pink lights and I do not appreciate the color pink. I also think it’s unsuccessful because people just walk past by it without knowing that it’s an installation because it doesn’t have that x-factor effect so that people would recognize it as an installation. The artist or the group that made this installation wasn’t there so I couldn’t ask their statements regarding it. It was an installation near a couple of food stands which made the installation a good spot to eat during the night, however I think that diminishes the message they are trying to get across. I asked a little boy who was viewing this with me and he said that it was pretty cool and that he liked the lights. Furthermore, we didn’t agree. 

The Tabula Rasa was presented by The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto. It was an installation which allowed participants to interact with six stations. The stations were named Motion, Narration, Oration, Reflection, Imagination, and Creation. Each station was named as to what tasks are there for the participant/viewer and the performer to do. For example, for the station of ‘Narration’, a story is read to you and you can interrupt the reader, converse, and ask questions.  I think it interprets how communication between people has evolved through time. It also conveys the message that your opinion is important, much like everyone else’s. I think The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto did a great job showing the people of Toronto, the power of communication and language. They had a very interesting way of including the viewer to their installation. Overall, it was fun and I enjoyed talking to the performers. A person who was next to me in line said it was a bit awkward at first for them to start talking to a complete stranger, but then they got the hang of it and enjoyed their time at the installation.
