"pearls are just oyster puke" 6.9k teen complete
25 years pre-canon. Kim and Harry meet clandestinely after Harry follows a buzzed instinct through town to a bar where Kim is performing. Punk!Kim.
SQUARE BULLETS series:
"Square Bullets, Round Men" 110k m ongoing
This is the one I live in. Six weeks post-canon. Dense casefic with a slowburn spine. Kim and Harry unravel a deeper conspiracy, care for each other through injury and aftermath, and confront what it means to be seen, chosen, and haunted regardless. Trauma, intimacy, trust, and the quiet moments between survival and collapse.
"Out, damned spot!" 7.3k teen complete
Canon compliant. Summer before Square Bullets. Heat. Humiliation. Kim gets hate-crimed during a traffic stop. Eyes laughs. Kim tells him to shut the fuck up. Angst-ridden character study about the kind of domesticity Kim doesnβt know how to accept, the mortifying ordeal of being known, and when your ironclad restraint becomes someone else' death sentence.
"do they have radios in heaven?" 11.1k teen complete
"Dead girl in the ledger. Bottomless drinks. Something rough, turned soft by calloused hands. Safe enough to stay. For one night only." Four months prior to the events of ODS. Kim character study where he is explicitly autistic. Hard truths and harder pavement. Jam session scored by grief and what should be unlikely comfort. Kim/Eyes
"an animal trapped in your hot car" 17.1k E complete
What happens when the phone doesn't ring.
O,DS! continuation.
"Reliable Appliance, Fully Operational" 5.2k E Complete

recently read an animal trapped in your hot car and i am going CRAZY about the ending. Havent started square bullets yet, but I want to ask: is there a world where kim and eyes figure things out?
Ok first of all. Thank you so much genuinely. I still scream about it. Secondly. Starting with hot car before square bullets is CRAZY work. That's like finding a scorched letter in the glove box and asking if the house has burnt down yet (ππ). Very funny to me personally especially because i agonized over the timing of that fic.
But short answer: no :( basically.
And that's the tragedy, isnt it? They were doomed. It always had to end this way. But there is a world where that little microcosm in hot car ends up working on a grander scale. You can imagine it. Them working through it. Eyes not as just some beautiful dead man in kims past that he deflects about, all coolly and mysteriously. Like that wasnt a real ass future that got cut off the moment it became possible
Long answer: you'll have to read more to get closure. Its not an easy or linear road. Without spoiling too much, square bullets is the direct fallout of all of this. By the end of the first chapter you'll know what i mean. Its super messy. Very fun. Most of it came to me backwards. Im fueled on subtext and grief mechanics π god bless and welcome

Hey so it's come to my attention that the Creators of Disco Elysium want you to share the game and not give the company who took over and fired them (illegally)?) any profits off of their ideas and work, and I originally joined tumblr 2 weeks ago when that post was going around about the Steam sale and how you should [Skull and Crossbones flag] it instead.
So.
in light of that.
Check the replies/notes of this post :)
I was informed that posts containing links in them aren't findable in the search so i'll just.... drop a link in a seperate reboot :)

If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.

sometimes i have strong opinions but they're also so inane that halfway through writing a post i'll be like "yeah, this is Absolutely not worth the energy it's taking" and delete everything. but then the opinion is still in my head. and i still want to share it. so within five minutes i go "you know, i bet i can phrase it more succinctly this time" and anyway. you all see where this is going. sometimes i do this four times in a row before i give up on the specific inane opinion and instead write a vague post about the concept of opinions as if that'll satisfy the urge to post the entirety of my inner monologue online. may or may not be relevant to what you're reading right now. and now all our lives have been enriched. you're welcome
