Astra & Hydra

Yes, Astra is the same character as the (outdated) PSN-001 Hydra sheet i posted a while back 〔´∇｀〕

Initially this series of doodles started off as a “what if my classic characters were in other MM universes? Like BN, SF, Fully charged, legends & X?”

However, as i kept designing these alt versions (and learning the design do’s and don’t’s for each verse, like the guidelines bn artists had to follow for navis), i actually ended up getting attached to them so much that i decided to write lore & possibly comics for each AU😭 with the Classic and BN being currently in the works (mainly BN because i have most of the story figured out)

Ee tysm😭! The pressure trio is mainly the nick i use for the classic / X guys i posted, with each of their theme / abilities being inspired by a specific kind of irl pressure!

- Hydra is an aquatic-themed bot whose signature ability is the power to summon the extreme cold and crushing pressure found in the deepest parts of the ocean. Think of the conditions thousands of meters below the surface, the kind that can crumple reinforced steel as if it were tinfoil, much like what happened to the Titan submarine a few years back.

At those depths, the water temperature is just above freezing, and the pressure (measured in tons x sq. Inch) can squeeze the air out of lungs, warp metal, and collapse unprepared structures in milliseconds- Hell, even before you reach those depths, the deeper you go, the colder and more oppressive the environment gets, hence why whenever we dive we get headaches and sometimes feel lightheaded.

- Xaver’s based off of a military jet (specifically the one nicknamed the “ghost of the sky”) and Peregrine falcons! His deal is that he’s able to withstand airborne pressure, the same one we can’t really deal well with at great heights- plus he can do the falcon’s stoop!

- As for Enigma, you could say he is Hydra’s polar opposite ability wise, all while getting more or less the same outcome. While Hydra’s deal is the bone chilling cold and crushing pressures of the ocean’s deepest trenches, Enigma’s thing is the heat and squeeze you’d get underground.
