It's all you!

"We’ll meet a little before breakfast at the weapon’s tent." And with that she left his tent to get some rest. Hopefully Yarne would have gathered enough courage by tomorrow.

Oh, he was going to get some too. 

"Yarne, save yerself!" Brady cried, struggling to keep Inigo away from his target and getting even more egg on him for his trouble. "Use them rabbit legs fer somethin’ and run!"

Yarne shouted as suddenly Brady made the lunge toward Inigo, the action alone was enough to send Yarne racing away further into the woods, transforming as he did. Brady's words were drowned out by by the pounding of his own heart and his feet as they trampled through the underbrush and he disappeared quickly off into the dark.  Unfortunately the run was unknowingly driving him further from the safety of the camp than he would have liked.

"We’ll talk to him first thing tomorrow, alright? It’s better to be done with it sooner or later, so… prepare yourself mentally for it."

"..Alright..Understood..Tomorrow morning....I guess thats enough time to write my will.." The last part was mumbled as quietly as he could and he sat back down on the edge of his bed

"Are you sure you can handle it? You’re already shaking." Severa sighed deeply. "Look, I’ll come with you, so nothing will happen to any of us, alright?"

"..T-the shaking's a condition...I-I'm allergic to situations where I could die.." He sighed, looking away "..F..fine..I guess I would feel better..if someone came."

"But I’m not planning to let a man like that scare me. I’m not afraid of him." Surely she would change her mind, but she was getting fed up by all of this.

"N..no dont...I...I'll talk to him on my own okay? You dont have to..I'll work something out I'll-I'll do it, you dont have to.....I don't want you getting hurt instead...e..even if I might..die.."

"If you’re really unable to talk to him then I will. You need to focus on your training and it’s not going to work this way." Yarne had to man up a little and become more confident in himself, but it looked like Severa had to do all the work again.

"N-no! You can't talk to him! Don't! I don't want him to try and kill YOU too! H-he'll think you're weak or something for standing up for me or just want me dead more b-because I couldn't stand up for myself...Just don't..don't bother okay? It doesn't matter!"

"I’m no less thankful. To make up for it, is there anything you could use my assistance with? It would be my pleasure to lend a hand. Or a wing, at that."

"Assistance? W-well thanks Gerome, but I don't think I have anything I need help with right now..I'm just happy to have helped you out..But..I mean I guess if I ever think of something I'll let you know. Alright?"

"Don’t be stupid, Yarne. You know that won’t work. We can’t have you die in the first place, because we came here for a reason." Severa wasn’t sure what to think when he talked about death so easily. "Do I really have to drag you to him and hold your hand, so you won’t cry and run off?" She didn’t know anything about the man and yes, he did look powerful. He also didn’t seem like the nicest guy around, but Chrom let him join the army, so how bad could it be.

Yarne scrambled up to his feet off his bed "I don't want to talk to him, I don't NEED to talk to him! I'll just keep doing what I do and keep trying to help our parents and keep avoiding him and i'll be just fine.."

"Right. With your children and my children there will be plenty of us. And imagine what it will be like once they have children. We’ve found a good place to stay and be accepted, Yarne… I’ve never been more confident for the future of our race.”

"..You're right..There will be so many of us..and...certainly at least the Shepherds won't let anything happen to us..we'll have plenty of bunnies..i-it'll be..alright..." He sighed a little "..Okay mom..I won't worry so much..I can try to be confident too."

A sigh escaped her lips. “Did you try to talk to him again after he threatened you? I really wonder if it wasn’t just a misunderstanding. You probably even think that I’m as scary as he is.” Severa brushed a few strands of hair to the side. “You should just face him and make things clear. You won’t get killed with all of us here. I doubt he would be stupid enough to kill a soldier in this camp.”

"I dont want to face him I dont need to be REASSURED that he wants me dead. I'll just keep hiding until he dies or I die or one of us leaves."

"Yarne." Severa opened the tent flap and stepped inside. "I’ve been looking all over for you. Why are you hiding in your tent? Are you that afraid of that man or are you hiding from me now?" It wasn’t as if she was hurting him. The help she offered was for his own good.

"I'm sorry..I'm not hiding from you..I'm just trying to to stay alive..You were looking for me? What do you need?"

"You have doomed nothing, Yarne. Your life is proof of that. There are two of us now, but the day you are born here… There will be three. And why would I stop there? I dream of starting a large family if I have the opportunity. I have yet to figure everything out, just like you. But you will. We both will."

"..Yeah....we...we will..We'll figure it out...You'll have a big family..a-and I will too!...Somehow...W-well maybe not..too big..but big enough to make a difference..just..you know, enough that I can keep all of them safe all the time."

"…You dug them out just to show me." He thought about it, appreciating the effort Yarne made for him. "Thank you. They certainly are nice… I’ll head to the nearest stream and clean them off this afternoon."

"So..so you like them? I'm glad!..It uh..it really wasn't that much effort...diggings not hard when you've got big paws and claws." He smiled a little and looked down "I uh..I bet they'll look great..I hope she enjoys them."

"Not so funny now, is it?" The swordsman grinned triumphantly, looking up to stare at Yarne who was panicking nearby. "Oh, hello Yarne. Would you like some egg surprise in your fur as well?”

"You lay offa’ Yarne," Brady said, his shoulders still shaking with laughter as he rolled Inigo off of him. "This was all my idea, Yarne was just along fer the ride. Give ‘im a break, ya brat."

"E-eh...You guys are killing my nose..I'm gonna be ill..You guys are gonna get so sick..that's so gross..."

"Hmm…" Severa looked around near his tent, but there was no sign of him outside. Which she already expected. Now she was simply standing in front of the tent, wondering if it was okay to just barge in. What if he was undressing though… Severa shook her head and decided to simply call him and hoped that she could hear him. Being quiet wouldn’t save him. "Yarne, are you in here?"

"C-come in?"

 It was rather easy to forget about Yarne as her stomach growled. Food was more important than babysitting the taguel at the moment and she couldn’t wait to dig in.

He pulled a bound journal from his belongings, quietly writing by dull candle light while he slowly ate his meal.

Severa couldn’t help but give up after a while. She was only wasting her time and surely he would show up soon. Or not. He had been hiding for the past month and she didn’t remember seeing him at all. Who knew whether he was still alive or not. The only option for her was to wait until dinner. He definitely wasn’t planning to skip a meal, was he?

Still a few minutes ahead of the dinner bell Yarne snuck back into camp, rushing ducked down through camp, heading to the cook fire.
