I’ve been working on this here and there for the past few months, and I am emerging from a brief hiatus. Camp NaNoWriMo starts in July and I am *excited* to dive right in again! Still in the prepping stages. When July 1st arrives, we’re putting the pen to paper again and going to pound that writer’s block into dust!!

Chapter 3 of Tattered Wings was officially posted yesterday!

In hindsight, I feel like I should have given it a few more revisions before I hit post. My writing schedule got thrown off with some real-life stressors and I couldn’t update for 3 weeks. But it’s kinda too late - quite a readers seem to be enjoying it. I’ll probably make some updates and mention them in Chapter 4.

This is a one-shot that I wrote in the Encanto fandom a few days ago and it was also the first time I dabbled with the hanahaki disease trope. Some recent events in my personal life left my mind in a very dark place and, since writing is also a coping mechanism for me, it led to the development of this work. Wrote & posted this piece in a single night. When I included “unhappy ending” in the tags, it is definitely an *unhappy* ending. In fact, it is one of the darkest endings that I have ever written and it even seemed to shock someone in the comments. This has still seemed to be one of the most popular since it has generated the most hits and kudos in the shortest amount of time than any of my other work. 

No regrets... still feel bad for what I did to Mirabel though. 

So the first time I ever watched Encanto, it quickly become a hyperfixation and I watched 5 times in one day. This movie speaks so much to me on the generational trauma I’ve experienced in my own family, just as I know it does for so many other people. When it comes to writing, though, my imagination always tends to wander on the darker side. The Disney version of a happy ending for this movie left me feeling... I’m not even sure how to describe it. It lead to going down a rabbit hole of the Runaway Mirabel Madrigal trope but most of the stories, while heart-warming, didn’t satisfy that need for angst. So I pumped out the first chapter of this fanfiction as a “what if?” scenario in a single night. Then Chapter 2 came along, and now Chapter 3 & 4 are in the works.
