You see, back then he wasn’t ready, mentally and emotionally, to refuel you like you fueled him. He didn’t know how to handle your flame so he allowed you to burn out. But believe me, the day will come, when he finds himself thinking how his life got to the point of doing what he thought made others happy, only to realize the one thing that made HIM happy, was you.”

a trick I’ve been using recently to help with adultingTM is turning those feelings of anxiety into feelings of excitedness. It’s a small change that’s had a massive impact. I have generalised anxiety disorder and I’m currently doing a whole lot on my own, having interviews for uni admission, working and doing a lot where I have to be self-sufficient. The changing of anxiousness and dread into being excited happens first with how you speak about the events. eg. turning ‘This is awful but I’ll do it.’ into ‘I’m so pumped to be able to try this!’. That change in verbalise those feelings translate into how you actually feel. I didn’t think it would work but it has! It’s allowed me to no longer be stressed about things beyond the moment in which I think about them. That lingering sense of dread as I sit and try and relax isn’t there. Don’t get me wrong, I still have anxiety and feel anxious about things but this small change in particular has let me let go of a lot.
