I like that when you start the god of highschool you get three troubled teens. Like ok Mori likes fighting and has an ego about it and he struggles making genuine connections, Deawi had a gang that he was ok getting hurt and gets emotionally over attached and Mira lets others influence her life to much.

But it isn’t insane yet it’s at the max scale for teens and with friendship it looks like they can get over it.

then you see these problems are actually really damn bad when these teens get real power. Flashback Mori used to be a bloodthirsty genocidal maniac that started a gruesome war over his ego, and his lack of true connections leads him to be ok with everyone including his allies dying for himself to continue searching for adrenaline highs.

Deawi gets a cult that he is ready to let die to protect the ones he truly loves and is ready to wage war against the entire world if any of his close friends ask him to.

and Mira gets manipulated into being an enemy of the world who kills massive amounts of people and has half dead people rely on her for life-force also in a cult.

they are truly an example of power just exemplifying what was already there.

And in the end they did character develop through it all but with way more angst than originally expected.
