Thanks, Holden. Sorry to get back to you late but I did end up going with Wes’ family. I really appreciate the offer though, seriously. and would have otherwise. Did you have a nice time? I wouldn’t be opposed to hanging out though, if the offer is still up.

It was her first Thanksgiving ever without her family, and Nova wasn’t happy about it. She cherished the time she got to spend with them, and even though her father was a busy man, he’d always been able to take off and come back to Boston to see her. While she understood there was no way around it when he was a military man in need, it still didn’t feel like the holiday she’d always loved. Nova was surprised that Wes had offered to come help her out at the soup kitchen and then invited her to dinner with his family, though she wasn’t sure why. It was in his kind nature. Perhaps because they still hadn’t talked about that night in the Hamptons and what it meant. 

“Thank you for being here,” she murmured softly as she gave his elbow a nudge with hers. The soup kitchen was beginning to empty as visitors tapered off and it was close to time to clean up. “I really didn’t want to spend today alone. But are you sure your family won’t mind if I come with you?” The Coles’ had been like second parents to Nova, but after all these years she feared she might be intruding. “I made a pie, just in case.”

Just thought I’d pass it by all you guys, but the bowling alley’s offering up half price lanes for the rest of the month. If anybody feels like getting their Rock N’ Bowl on, now’s the time! ;)

Is that a challenge or an invitation? It kind of sounds like both. Are you feeling competitive, Wes?

For real, they’re not coming back for Thanksgiving? How come?

I’m sorry Nova, that sucks. It’d be awesome of you to do that, and I’ll tell you what… how about we both go and volunteer earlier in the day, and then you come back and have Thanksgiving dinner with the Coles after that?

My dad has to work, so they can’t make it back. But they promised to be here for Christmas. That’s the real biggie.
