Cissa was taken aback for a moment, looking down at her blouse and blazer as if expecting them to have transformed into something else entirely. Maybe her school uniform, that had certainly gotten her mistaken for other girls on occasion. 

“You’re a seer?” she asked, before the rest of the woman’s words caught up with her and her expression changed from confusion to fear. “You saw me fall down the stairs? Did I have my baby with me? I’d be fine, it’s just stairs, but he’s just a newborn and…”

“You didn’t have a baby, but it was tripping, not full-on falling. I mean, a little, but it wasn’t face-first.” Sofiya said, trying to sound much more in control of the situation than she actually was. “But yeah, your baby should be fine. I didn’t know it had already been born!” She’d really fallen behind on pureblood happenings, how bittersweet. “Congrats!” 

          “I’m… what?” she asked, turning her attention to the other girl. Felicity liked to think she was at least a little bit poised. She didn’t trip that often. “Wait a second? You can scry on people?” Felicity was in awe with anyone who had the ability to see things. “I haven’t tripped on any stairs yet. Are you sure it was me? Not to, um, say you don’t know what you saw. But I don’t typically trip on stairs. Unless I’m just in the middle of a really good book. Or frustrated at my boyfriend.” 

        “I’m pretty sure, but I’m not, like, the best-most-reliable-seer-ever.” She admitted, it wasn’t a client or good news, so it didn’t feel like a terrible thing to confess. People didn't really tend to discuss seers often, especially if the seer in question was her, there were just many more interesting Nott topics to discuss for someone to try to tap onto her crazy little brain. “But try to be careful, just in case? I didn’t really see how high they were.” She said. She was pretty sure it had been this girl. My bad, she thought, when she realized that maybe she shouldn't have gotten that excited she was going to fall down the stairs.

Crazy was, in general, something to be avoided, but that was the same thing that religious groups said about certain substances, so Cas didn’t always stick to that particular suggestion. Crazy could be entertaining and if you didn’t use real names or were on unusual stomping grounds, then chances were that it was safe enough to indulge in a brush with crazy for just a night.

That said, it wasn’t night and Cas didn’t think ‘crazy’ was actually the right word to fit the wisp of a woman that kept trying to hand out fliers from her place next to the cotton candy, not unless you meant it in the crazy cat lady sense. Eccentric seemed too casual, but perhaps kooky worked and she didn’t seem dangerous as she advertised the end of… something, maybe the fair or maybe the war or even the end of the world, so Cas didn’t see any harm in watching her make a spectacle of herself, undeniably amused and willing to play along when she acknowledged him.

“Depends, is it with you?” He asked, using his usual flirty tone as he shoved his hands in the pockets of his jacket and walked up to her, an easy smile on his face. “Any reason why you’re trying to shut the fair down? Or is this just an excuse to stake out the front of the cotton candy line? I won’t tell if you are, you just need to share with me.”

Contrary to popular belief, Sofiya didn’t instantly melt into a puddle of goo whenever a man spoke to her in a suggestive tone. But if she was awkward about wanted advances, she was a disaster around unwanted ones. She’d gone as far as to bark at a muggle man, once, and to be honest, she was so pleased with how smoothly that worked it didn’t even occur to her to be embarrassed until she shared the story with a friend. So, when she thought the guy had only replied to be annoying,  she was completely prepared to aparate somewhere else and start over. 

But he continued talking, so she decided to listen, and he didn’t seem too bad. He was overconfident, but. No. He was just overconfident. Not the worst possible trait to have. Not a likable trait, but barking dogs don’t bite. 

“It’s hard to explain, but something bad is going to happen tonight. So, the campaign to shut the fair down is mostly so people won’t get too mixed up. My location choice is mostly to get snacks, it’s pretty sunny.”

Now, she wasn’t one for heroics. But some some dumb parents were probably taking their dumb kids to the dumb fair, and if she woke up to shitty news in the paper, she’d feel bad. So she made it her purpose to eat cotton candy and lurk by the stand, wearing her “The End Is Near” Sign and hand-made flyers detailing the meaning of every card in her reading, and why that meant they should be at home. It wasn’t illegal. Or at least not illegal enough that she’d get arrested-arrested. It didn’t even appear illegal enough to get her kicked out. Thus-far. 

“Do you have a minute to be strongly advised to leave the fair?” She said, to a passer by who seemed to find her amusing. It didn’t matter, this was more for her peace of mind than his sake, anyway.  @casruncorn​

“What the hell is water scrying?”  She wrinkled her brow in confusion.  “It sounds painful.”  She gestured for Sofiya to take the seat across from her.  “Sit down.  Have a chicken wing if you’d like.  But not a taco, those are all mine.” 

When Sofiya continued she looked down at the dress she was wearing with a frown.  “And I look like my grandmother – next time you see me dressing like an elderly woman in your little, water ritual please owl me and tell me to rethink, yeah?  And no… perhaps I will avoid stairs for the rest of the day?  Or maybe it’s inevitable, in that case I’ll take the next set I see and see if I can get it over with.”

“It’s like a pensive, but on drugs.” She tried to explain, before sitting down and grabbing reaching out to grab a chicken wing. “Are they spicy?”

She looked at Hestia’s clothes, and tried to pinpoint what was wrong. but then again, she’d never been known for her fashion sense. “I’ll let you know, but I think it looks cozy. I don’t think it’s inevitable, but it wasn’t a fatal fall or anything, I wouldn’t overthink it. I’m just excited I saw something.”

Vanja snickered, shaking their head. “Well thats sort of the hard part. I cant exactly explain that bit.” Truthfully, Vanja had the slightest clue why they kept trying to impress this person, yet for whatever reason felt the need to. “I just feel like I made a terrible first impression, and I want to take it back. They’re very… well… serious, and literal.”

“Serious and literal, huh?” Sofiya was too polite to say that sounded boring, but it did. A little. “Have you tried being very straightforward? You do mess with people a lot. In a charming Vanja-esque way. That literal and serious people do not always appreciate.”

“I’m sorry, did the Minister declare this sibling bonding hour?” Valentina asked, well aware that this was partially her fault for telling Sofiya anything to begin with, but honestly, this was her reaction? More questions like she was a child trying to figure out what was in her Christmas presents? Not even the slightest bit of outrage that Valentina got rid of her toys? If Valentina was in possession of an inner child, it truly would have been disappointed by that.

Letting out a sigh and shaking her head, Valentina began to tick items off her fingers, keeping her answers as brief as possible. “One, I was experimenting with a spell.” Not entirely true, she was working on her wandless magic. It failed. “Two, I sent them to an orphanage.” Waste not, want not. Besides, there was some sort of flyer once. “Three, I have no idea what happened to her.” True, basically. “Four. None of your business.” In other words, yes, but she would admit that over her dead body. “Five, stop being so nosy about my private life. And no.” Pausing, Valentina glancing up for a moment as if asking for patience before admitting with a hint of embarrassment, “She was a gryffindor.”

“Oh, fuck off. You like gossiping with me.”  Sofiya said in a teasing manner, despite how scary swearing in front of Valentina was. Maybe it was because she had a prefect-face. Huh, she thought, she could see why the teachers still treated her like a student. An auror is basically a prefect without a uniform, in a way. “Plus, most of that happened, like, lifetime ago, it’s not like I can use it against you.” Well, if a toy was charmed, she could accuse Valka of breaking the statute of secrecy, but having family in Azkaban was worse than having them dead, and she wouldn’t hurt her sister over such a nice but bothersome gesture. Annoying Sofiya by being nicer to other kids was probably the oldest trick in the Nottbook.

When Valentina did answer her questions, Sofiya felt unbelievably powerful, but more than that, she felt liked by her sister. “A Gryffindor? Of course you’d fall for your “natural enemy”.” Sofiya teased. There were now so many things to talk about, but if she kept juggling subjects, she might not get to deepen any one of them. “Do you believe houses really matter? Like, do they have a point? Or are they just fancy clubs?"
