Lip’s POV and he is a silly goose

snowy wintery Chicago and they’re tucked in together

quiet apartments that are safe and cozy and warm and the weather outside is indeed frightful

tucked into a restaurant together and the night is cold and dark and they have to separate for awhile now but at least they had the last few hours

someone has a cold and it’s the middle of the day and time stopped in their four walks even if everyone outside is still at work or school or whatever

let me give a snapshot of my current life.

I work for a husband and wife ec team. when i met one of my roommates, i assumed her boyfriend lived here. to the point that during orientation with HR they said oh you've met [boyfriend], my other roommate's boyfriend works for the company and buys groceries for the house and insists on cooking for us and we know we can all have food whenever, when chefs ask servers to get my coffee order for me it's someone that knows me well enough to make it perfectly. i've asked for my order once and now it's solidified through the ranks and is presented when i get a certain look on my face, and by someone i live with or someone who knows who i live with. what else? uh my first day of work the chef i worked with knew exactly who i lived with, in which suite of the house, where i'd worked before and had a lot of my preferences already established. i can leave knives at work and someone will go sharpen them for me. i work with a couple that is a very dynamic duo and often guides my work and helps me get through the day. a couple i knew from a couple kitchens ago keeps in touch and is helping me with a certification.

carmy said she was popular in high school, surrounded by friends, but, mikey characterized her as a weird geek that is now hot and socially acceptable. she herself talked about always taking care of people during school and her house being the party house. so? why? carmy?? non-social carmy?

of all the women you could follow and admire you get stuck on donna berzatto? i think for whatever reason people are really enamored by the berzattos and they have a kind of weird social status that despite their disorders makes them cemented as old neighborhood royalty. but? her husband left her, her kids aren't well, she isn't well, you were already popular?? so? you NEED to be like them? what?

if she was always popular in school why make herself a staple of mikey's attention? this is not quiet loner meets popular jock.

she has an education. she could be anywhere in the country and she? wants to stay in this suburb of chicago with the faks forever?

the towel you can see on syd’s hip? restaurants have those come in with their linen service/vendor. we don’t wash them in house but when they come back they’re in these big bags and they’re stacked together but not individually folded.

so, you take them out one by one and fold them and put them in one central location or maybe someone’s nice enough to go around station to station and set everyone up with a stack of towels.

even if you don’t have romantic tension or intention with a coworker there’s something SO intimate about standing side by side and folding “laundry” together

and as i’m typing this i remember jess and richie actually did this!
