Nothing has a definitive answer in season 5. They received two stars but otherwise everything is open ended. Picking a day long season was a great way to avoid making actual choices.

- Does the bear stay open?

- Do they franchise?

- Does Carmy stay?

- Sydcarmy?

- Clairmy?

- Richie & Jess?

- Does Cicero keep his house?

- Luca and his sister?

- Marcus and his dad?

- Parental relationship with Donna?

I feel like there’s some stuff that is 100% but at the end of the day nothing was really set in stone. Anything could have changed within a few days. I just wanted a real ending.

YES. This is my hot take on this season: the one-day plot really felt like a gimmick to make sure the characters didn't have to make more radical decisions that would have required time or reflection. They were all trapped in this time bubble that existed outside anything else related to their future. I don't even get the point of letting the audience wonder of this magical place they created and grow in is in danger.

It's like they were suspended in time. And I get the importance of their arcs this season, but it felt like they did it so it could finally be centered around the restaurant this time (while the previous seasons the restaurant was just an exterior manifestation of internal struggles, in S5 the restaurant is the vehicle and the goal of managing the internal conflict in this one unit of time)

Many people say it felt like opening the door and I agree but it still feels kinda cowardly to not give a definitive ending. More over, is like they avoided the logical endings in order to create an experience that would catter to most audiences.

With Sydcarmy, it feels like they purposely used ambiguous answers to everything the fans expected. The dish reveal? Ambiguous as fuck. Carmen doesn't get to talk about what that meant to him. Did he get Claire her sweater back? (And what happened?) Why is it that he doesn't even mention her at all in that one day? If she is peace and he was stressed, why not call her? It's like they didn't want him to choose her either. The Sydcarmy is the really climactic reconciliation. We literally have Carmen looking at her in the last shot while Claire remained ignored. Still, apparently Carmy choosing Sydney verbally or a hint of a confession was just too radical an ending.

They solved their issues around working together and being partners; they got this one victory together, and we are apparently never supposed to know what will be of them in the long run.

i woke up and saw @waywardangel-wilds posted this and i was like WAIT I ACTUALLY NEED TO WAKE UP

i once left an internship in wisconsin suddenly because i was just that uncomfortable - i had so many alarm bells going off and i just couldn’t stay in the situation. 3 shifts and i called it quits after driving across the country to be there.

and i always wondered if i was right but just early. if i should have pushed my feelings down and stayed. if i could have survived just for a little while and then booked it out of there.

without even thinking about how i eventually did find my perfect internship, how im so glad it didn’t work out, i keep getting videos on my fyp about how racist the hospitality industry is in that area of the country and??? idk it’s small vindication and i sincerely hope karma found those people that were so mean to me. but man i love being right
