Fun wordplay time.

Yesterday I was re-reading the mob fight chapter and I stumbled across the moment when Momo visited his father in prison. And one line caught my attention:

“I will become the kind of man who can hold up the sky [like father]…”

I’m pretty sure that’s just an elaborate metaphor, but…

Tiān (天) in “He Tian” literally has the meaning of sky, among others. Now pretty sure that many know that Shan part in Mo Guan Shan means “mountain”. Certainly, in some sense, mountains do hold up the sky, hence the famous mountain range bears the name Tianshan, or the Heavenly Mountains. Does it symbolically mean that Mo Guan Shan will become a source of support and something to lean on for He Tian?

Another curious thing pertains the running trope for He Tian – he is continuously represented by black colour. In Chinese black or dark is typically written as “Hēisè” (黑色) or “Hēi”(黑). It seems uncannily similar to He’s last name, which – yes, I’m well aware of that – is written with a different character (贺) and reads differently. It’s just something I find curious.

Even more so in the light of the recent chapter, where Mo requests a pair of black studs (not ya know, neutral/metallic). If black doesn’t represent He Tian, then I don’t know what. Metaphorically, Momo literally lets He Tian in, accepts his colour.

Mo is not really a vain guy, it's hard to believe that he'll buy himself a bunch of different piercings to choose from. He Tian, on the other hand, would love to shower Mo in pretty things. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that a lot of those are gifts.

anyway, the idea of “the one” is so innacurate and outdated. there are literally so many people that you could be compatible and share a really strong emotional connection and healthy relationship with. like if you think about it... even in platonic terms, friendship. how many best friends have you had throughout your life? your childhood best friend? high school best friend? college best friend? these were all people you were very in tune with emotionally and shared a meaningful relationship with. did they not understand you? did they not see you for who you were? did they not love you unconditionally? and you did the same. in a world w 8 billion people, one person was not the end all be all. remember that if a relationship dissolved it was for a reason; it wasn’t meant for you. there are plenty of people with whom you can form bonds with. who are willing to meet you where you are, and do what is necessary to earn a place in your life through consistent effort and actions. the “one” doesn’t exist, and they’re not out there for you to find.
