     “Whatever you want señorita. Now let’s tango.” 

          The girl nods, getting in a fighting stance. “Go on. I’ll even let you have the first move.” She shouldn’t be so cocky, but honestly, she wouldn’t be Artemis Crock if she wasn’t. “Better make it a good one, might be the only one you get.”

She was making him nervous. Maybe everything was okay and he was just being a creep, but her being on edge set him off as well. “With amazing acts like yours it’s easy to enjoy. Your act was pretty badass ‘nd all, but I got a special love for the tigers. So the animal act was my favorite.” He made sure to keep his voice low as not to let the Boss hear him cussing. 

She’s good a reading people, one of the other things her dearest father taught her. She knows she’s making the kid nervous and she understands, she is being strange. The blonde forces herself to relax, an actual smile tugging at her lips when she hears he had a love for tigers. “Yeah? Me too. I love the tigers. When I first joined the circus, one of the trainers let me help take care of a baby one, she was one of the one’s that you saw tonight.”

          “How far along are you? Does Ollie know? Is he excited?”

           “A few weeks. And Steph and I haven’t told him quite yet, we know he’s going to be telling everyone once he does know, but we asked him beforehand how he’d feel about having a little brother or sister and he seemed pretty excited about it.”

Master of noticing when people were on edge he shifted unhappily, mimicking her stance.“You good, Blondie?” Pure Gothamite accent dripping into his voice.

“Yes, thank you. I’m fine.” She replies, keeping Diane’s carefully composed facade up. “I’m glad you enjoyed the show. What was your favorite part?” Can we please just leave, like now?

          “I don’t know what to say, Artemis. You can’t know what this means to me.” She pauses, a quiet laugh passing through her lips. “I’m going to be the best godmother ever. I promise. Anything you need – both of you – I’m there, okay?”

          “Oh, I have no doubts about you being the best godmother ever. This baby is going to be spoiled so rotten, Ollie’s going to seem like a perfect mannered prince compared to them.” She says with a soft chuckle.
