It looks like Isaiah has had a bad day. In that case, why is there a slight smile on Michael’s face? “Cigar?” he offers one out, “Who tried to kill you today?” 

H E takes it with a little nod in thanks, slumps into the seat in front of Michael’s desk, letting out a sigh, “ Feels like the whole world’s trying to kill me . Woke up with a FUCKING STONE through my window, so that was good . “

     of all the things david thought he’d see in his lifetime, this wasn’t one of them. 

his girl – his jane marie – getting married? and to a boy who, just a few years back, wouldn’t have even been allowed to look at her in the street? the thought of calling her mrs. jesus makes him want to be sick. the thought of the disgusting kids that that boy will give her, dirty like he is… david feels like she said yes to the idea of being with isaiah just to punish him, and god, it’s working. he’s had to spend the whole day chain smoking to counteract the nausea he feels every time isaiah even stands near jane marie.

           mrs. jane jesus. for fuck’s sake.

he supposes that he might as well make the best of it. they get an alliance out of it. they get peace for the first time in near a decade. and jane, even though she thinks she’s so fucking smart, gets to suffer. there’s no way she’ll enjoy a life with him. david gives her two months before she comes around begging to come back home.

he makes his way over to isaiah when the crowds have cleared out a little. everyone’s preoccupied with drinking the free whiskey, jane’s showing off her ring to her old schoolfriends, and most importantly – her husband is on his own. david greets him by clapping a hand on his shoulder – a show of fatherly affection – and then pulls the other in a little so he’ll hear him as he mutters. “still think that you ain’t worth shit,” he says, but he keeps his tone light, his lips curved into the smallest of smiles so that if isaiah is enough of a dumb fuck to retaliate, nobody will know david started anything. “should be cleaning her shoes and opening fuckin’ doors for her.”

S H E ‘ S radiant . Absolutely radiant, and Isaiah can’t believe it to tell the truth . Who knew he’d ever get married ? Who knew he’d ever LIVE that long to get married, and to someone so wonderful ? So kind and beautiful and funny and with a heart of gold (     that matches his own, if not, surpasses it     ) . There’s problems, sure, everyone’s got problems, but he’ll try his fucking best to straighten his own out for her, wants to make her as happy as she makes him .

MRS JANE JESUS . He couldn’t be happier .

He’s grinning like an absolute idiot, is a little more than buzzed from the whole event (     though he knows that it’ll only grow more WILD the later it gets     ), and he’s about to go over and whisk her away to dance when his attention his diverted . 

Any form of joy fades away when he sees who it is, a cold feeling setting and spreading through his bones, twisting around his heart . The Lord says not to hate, but oh, he loathes him, absolutely despises the man that had TRAPPED Jane for so long, HURT her for so long, and his jaw clenches the closer he gets, knows he’ll only lose it if he lets him get to him .

“ You still think I give a single SHIT about what you think of me ? “ He says quietly with a sneer, “ I’ll treat her better than YOU ever did . You’re not gonna FUCKING TOUCH her ever again, you hear me ? “ He takes a sip from his drink as he looks at her .

“Pft. You’re a funny guy, slim.” She gave him an unladylike snort of haughty derision. It was funny how she became everyone’s favourite girl when the going got too rough. Mathias had sent her overseas to get a new start on life, to get away from the roar of the post-war struggles, but it seemed that she was destined to attract the same kind of trouble no matter where she went. And maybe she did think that little of him (charm or no charm)- when else had he seen her on his own accord?

Depending on how one looked at it, Isaiah was either very late or very early as her birthday was in September. Still, she wasn’t going to say no if he was actually offering. It’s called a hustle, sweetheart. “All right, I’ll bite. What did you have in mind?”

F U C K . Nah, he didn’t think this far ahead, and he scrunches his nose as if thinking about it, lets out a sigh as he takes his hat off, walking further into her flat (     uninvited     ) .

“ Dunno, babs . What do you like ? MAYBE - “ He points towards the couch, “ - can I sit down, by the way ? - but MAYBE we could go down to London, ay ? “ He grins, positioning his hands as if holding onto a steering wheel, chuckling, before he drops then, “ Could even borrow a car ? Drive us down . Wouldn’t that be nice ? “ Though there isn’t ANYONE in the WORLD who’d lend Isaiah Jesus a car (     not unless they absolutely had to     ) .
