There is absolutely no piece of technology that can replace the piano.

#MusicEducation Monday! The first ever “#grandpiano” was invented around 1700 by Bartolomeo Cristofori. His new #piano resembled the previous design of a #harpsichord, but it was the first to successfully use a hammer-action keyboard to hit the strings - instead of plucking them. A hammer based system enabled the #pianist to have greater control of soft or loud notes… a.k.a dynamics. The italian #musicalterm “piano” and “forte” indicate “soft” and “strong” respectively, hence #Pianoforte. Cristofori was about 45 years old when he started reinventing the piano in such a way. Unfortunately his design was not very well accepted during his lifetime, as people could not foresee the substantial improvements that would be added to his invention in the future.
