She let out a shout and smacked his arm flailing a little and wriggling, “Put me down! I don’t like–put me down!” Of all things she hated, she hated being picked up. He was sweet in his weird way, but he didn’t really know how to read her. “I get away with it cause I’m me.” And she’s on the ground again, glaring even harder at him than before.

“…sorry, did you say something? I’m not quite fluent in little bitch, how about you try a different one? I’m conversational in whiny asshole.” Ziva didn’t even bother to look up to make eye contact with him. Her jaw flexing for just a moment. “You know, since it’s your native tongue.” 

            it was obvious. but there was something about the words actually being said that makes all of this so much sweeter. eliot leans into quinn’s arms and puts his all into that kiss. eventually. yeah, eliot can handle eventually. setting that up right now is too much. but the promise of it happening eventually is… nice. and good. and it gives eliot a sense of security. he admires the ring on his finger for a moment.                 for some reason, it feels right. eliot’s arms wind around quinn and he laces his fingers together at the small of quinn’s back. for a moment, they’re just close and breathing in each other’s scent. quinn’s face is buried in his shoulder and eliot’s swaying just a little bit. he presses a kiss to the side of his head, what he can reach.                 a tiny smile crosses his lips. “mmhn. i love you too.” he strikes him that this is the first time quinn has ever said it. and he thinks for a moment that maybe it’s the last time. and eliot’ll take it. “merry christmas.”

“merry christmas.” quinn responds, holding onto eliot like if he lets go this will all fade away -- that it will all become some dream. he likes eliot in a way he isn’t sure he’s ever liked anyone else. and that alone was terrifying for him. caring so much for someone. but, if he had to, he’s glad it’s eliot.

eliot, who could kick quinn’s ass ( not an easy feat, and not one he will admit to ), could surely handle almost anything that came his way. which meant some of the fear that quinn usually held about relationships wasn’t there. however, doubt and worry still lingered. eliot wasn’t invincible, and neither was quinn.
