“Obviously, you can’t,” he said, frowning. “All I can do is show you that I can keep my word. But if you would like me to leave you be, and continue sending IX in my place…”
At least he had the decency to send someone else, and not leave her alone. That counted in his mind. He couldn’t imagine why it mattered so much to her that it was he who showed up at her door. She didn’t seem to care for him. That aside, he continued.
“…These are yours, then?” he asked, gesturing to the small Heartless. “They seem to like you.”
Aqua exhaled softly, resting her head back against the pillow, allowing the small Heartless to squirm and wriggle around from where they sat upon her. She released the little one she was holding, who crawled over her face and went to snuggle against the pillow with a soft squeak.
A weak little nod. “Yes…they come from me…when I feel intense emotions they’re summoned…they’re different from the other heartless…they aren’t aggressive or hostile…and they don’t care about hearts, at least I don’t think so…”
The one she was holding before lifted its head to blink up at Xemnas, its little antennae twitching curiously.
"Extraordinary," hummed Xemnas, reaching his hand out to the creature, as if testing it. "They appear pure, but they lack an interest in obtaining more hearts... Perhaps they are sustained by your own heart? I studied the Heartless for years... I've never seen one behave this way before."
She was truly a special case of her own, but he didn't say so. She had already expressed that she disliked the idea of being studied. He would leave her be for now, but he couldn't help the little speculations that came up every now and then.
"Even those we created, those that bear an emblem, are anything but docile," he added, explaining. "They're very interesting creatures."
