Michael didn't mean to kill [REDACTED], it was supposed to be a harmless prank. He did love his brother, just felt that he needed to toughen him up.
Michael was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment. Given he was 16 at the time and showed clear remorse for his actions, he was placed in a juvenile detention facility for two years, where he was later transferred to a residential treatment program until he was 21 as he showed no further acts of violence and was quite withdrawn in the detention center.
He was released a year ago and still believes he was not at fault for his brother's death, rather blaming everyone else and being quite untrusting of the people around him. He just started working at Circus Baby's under William's vague instructions.
Michael is a very vain person about his appearance and can be quite egotistical. He takes pride in his hygiene and specifically the care of his hair.
