Interview with KISEWA conducted by Livigesh

Livigesh: What inspired you to make an album like “BULLET BALLET”?

KISEWA: I didn’t really have an inspiration, I just had the spirit and desire to make music that I wanted to make for a long time.

Livigesh: What was the writing process of “BULLET BALLET” like?

KISEWA: I have never learned to compose or produce music properly. I used a lot of samples to make the album. I didn’t use VST’s or acoustic instruments. I sampled a lot of old industrial music and I would add percussion, vocals and effects on the samples; I like my tracks to sound full and harsh. To make harsh sounds, I used guitar amp effects on all the tracks on the album. By doing so, my tracks started sounding different, but it added unity and coherence to the album.

Livigesh: What track did you spend the most time on and what tracks or track are/is your favourite from the album?

KISEWA: I spent the most time on making “A1.″ This track has the most layers from the album and I spent a lot of time deciding on which effects to use and not to use. I would use various samples and replace samples to see what sounded best to me.  My favourite tracks are “B3″ and “B4″ because I instantly felt satisfied when I finished those tracks, and I feel like those two tracks are the most fun ones. 

Livigesh: How did you feel like after you finished the album?

KISEWA: It felt good. I said, “this is it.” I also felt good when I released the album. I felt like making more music and releasing another project soon.

Livigesh: Do you think you grew as an artist after finishing “BULLET BALLET”?

KISEWA: I don’t know about growth, but I felt something new and fresh. I didn’t really expect it, but there were positive responses from overseas saying a great industrial album was released or this tape is good. These kind of responses made making music feel fun. From the positive energy and responses from friends and people overseas, I feel like making more music. 

Livigesh: When can we expect your next project?

KISEWA: My next project “SLOG PARK” will be out in March of 2021. “SLOG PARK” seems like it has grown from the sound of “BULLET BALLET” and it feels more rich, sonically.

“I always try different methods of writing and producing music when it comes to making albums. “WOLF PACK” is my fifth album and my first album to be pressed onto vinyl. From the 2 years of making “WOLF PACK” I grew as an electronic music producer and performer. To me, “WOLF PACK” seems like my first album. My drum programming has evolved into something more complex and my use of musical elements have started to become more diverse and creative. These developments in making music made “WOLF PACK” something that sounds familiar and alien at the same time.”
