Finished reading The Eminence in Shadow Light Novel #1
Now that's what I call a LIGHT novel, I'm just starting to get into the medium, read 1 volume of Otonari no Tenshi sama and one chapter of 86; Tenshi sama is pretty good albeit too slow for me, I was so unprepared for 86 technobabbling that I need to put it for later when the mood is right, TEIS though is excellent, the plot flows really smoothly and fun that I found myself reading 200 pages in one sitting (no, I'm not an avid reader by any means) it's like if they transfer manga dialogues and narration to novel form, it's fantastic for my level of reading.
I don't dabble much in isekai/reincarnation genre I think there's too much of them and visually they often look samey at a glance even though they aren't and I recognize their illustrator's art, TEIS is one of the few that really leaves an impression on me, I guess Overlord too but I'll keep it for later, Touzai is the illustrator and character designer for Eminence in Shadow and they're amazing, it's been a while since someone's art fit my tastes so much.
To give a brief summary of the Eminence in Shadow, it's one of those isekai with overpowered MC but he's an ultra chuuni obsessed with being a mastermind hiding in the shadow, so much so that he put too much effort in being an NPC that it often backfired. The plot balanced comedy, cool and serious stuff so well that one never outweigh the other, one thing I also like is the MC giving our world knowledge to one of the characters and it affects this fantasy setting's market and economy, I don't like when isekai just use the "reincarnated to other world" as a starting point and never use it again until wayyyyy later.
