you were missed, little bear! i hope your yearâs been good! thank you for being a little light in a sad, bleak world.
I hope your year has been good, little snowcone! it's all the people in the rpc (including you) who really make the world a brighter place. choosing to spend your time and your creativity writing with other people? sharing that writing with others? truly incredible and awe-inspiring. it's the rpers who make the rpc go 'round!
xoxo NPB
generic cookie cutter positivity isn't helpful
this is a very understandable way to feel, and I agree that as a general principle, individually tailored messages are always more meaningful and impactful than general ones.
if you would, please take a moment to consider a few things: -the hope is that when people receive messages in their inbox from the bear, they're imagining that an actual little fluffy baby polar bear is coming to them and delivering the message, which I like to think makes this a little different than generic chain message positivity; -I do my best to send messages to a wide range of rpers, the vast majority of whom I am not acquainted with and are outside of my rp circles/fandoms/genres, I also do my best to send messages to a large number of people; -on multiple occasions over the years I have been told by people I've messaged that my note was the first positivity ask they'd ever received; -in my years of experience in the rpc, I have personally never seen generic kind messages make anyone feel worse. individualized kind messages are absolutely better, I agree, and are truly beautiful things to send, and to receive. I think something to remember is that even generic messages (from anybody, not just from me) are sent with love and kind intentions. remember that any time someone sends you a generic message, that person chose to send it to you. they could have sent it to anyone (or no one), they could have sent it to someone else instead of you, but they chose to send it to you, and took the time out of their day to do so -- however small that moment of time may have been for them, they still chose to send it to you.
now, maybe you had already considered those things, and you still feel the same way about generic kind messages, and that's okay. if that's the case, then I have a question for you, and a favor to ask you. when is the last time that you sent someone a personalized note of positivity? how often do you write and send personalized notes, and do you send them only to your best friends, or to a wide range of people? and the favor, if you're so inclined, is to go and send someone a personalized love note. if you'd like, try to send it to someone who you've never send a positive message to.
in fact, I'll ask that favor of everyone on the dash: take a moment to send a personalized compliment, a kind thought, or a love note to someone you write with or follow. this anonymous snowcone is absolutely right: those messages will mean far more than any generic message from me. you could turn someone's whole day around, and you'll definitely make them smile.
thank you for being here <3 i missed you the entire year.
glad to be here, little snowcone! it's been a busy year for this little bear, so I'm happy to spread a little cheer this holiday season.

hello little snowcones
remember to give yourselves a pat on the back and congratulate yourselves for how incredibly creative and hardworking you are, and how absolutely incredible you are for creating worlds and characters and stories the way you do.

hereâs a prompt that isnât a question: give yourself some love, and tell yourself that youâre proud of your writing. thatâs it, thatâs the prompt! look at yourself in the mirror if you want to, or just sit in front of your computer, but tell yourself that youâre proud of your writing! Say it out loud, right now: âI am proud of myself for my writing.â
as we get ready for a new year, whatâs something that you love about yourself and your writing that youâre proud of for yourself for doing this year? and whatâs something that you want to work on for next year?
what makes you happy when youâre writing? it can be anything; writing partners, characters, scenarios, plot points, tropes, alternate universes, etc, anything! we all love being happy, so what makes you happy when youâre writing it? being happy is always important!
have you taken a break today? practice some self love right now and go take a five minute break (or a two minute break, or a one minute break) and donât forget to drink some water!

what do you love about writing the muse(s) that you write? do you love why you chose them? or how you interpret their canon? or how you create their canon if youâre an oc? what do you love!
what do you love most about how youâve improved since you started roleplaying? improvement happens every day, whether we realize it or not, so take a minute to be proud of yourself for all youâve improved!
hereâs a prompt that isnât a question: go tell a long time writing partner what you love about writing with them!
hereâs a prompt that isnât a question: go to a writer whose writing you love, but that you donât write with very often, or at all, for one reason or another, and tell them how much you love their writing! there are tons of writers we admire but donât have the opportunity to write with for a whole variety of reasons, so go send some love to a writer you admire but donât write with!
whatâs one thing that you love about your characterization? whether you write a canon character or an oc, there are so many things that you do that are so uniquely you; give yourself some love for one of those things you love about your characterization.

what do you love about the roleplay community? this is an interactive writing hobby, so the interaction can make all the difference! sure, every community has problems, and the rpc is no exception, but what do you love about the rpc?
whatâs something you love to send to people? memes? prompts? questions? compliments? something else? what do you love sending? now go send it to someone. :)
