This is the thing: When you hit 28 or 30, everything begins to divide. You can see very clearly two kinds of people. On one side, people who have used their 20s to learn and grow, to find … themselves and their dreams, people who know what works and what doesn’t, who have pushed through to become real live adults. Then there’s the other kind, who are hanging onto college, or high school even, with all their might. They’ve stayed in jobs they hate, because they’re too scared to get another one. They’ve stayed with men or women who are good but not great, because they don’t want to be lonely. … they mean to develop intimate friendships, they mean to stop drinking like life is one big frat party. But they don’t do those things, so they live in an extended adolescence, no closer to adulthood than when they graduated. Don’t be like that. Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming. Don’t lose yourself at happy hour, but don’t lose yourself on the corporate ladder either. Stop every once in a while and go out to coffee or climb in bed with your journal. Ask yourself some good questions like: “Am I proud of the life I’m living? What have I tried this month? … Do the people I’m spending time with give me life, or make me feel small? Is there any brokenness in my life that’s keeping me from moving forward?” Now is your time. Walk closely with people you love, and with people who believe … life is a grand adventure. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path.

It is so sexist and disrespectful to refer to a woman as "cupcake." I don't know who Miesha is, but how dare you.
This might be the best anon hate mail I’ve gotten. Can somebody do me a favor and screenshot and comment her UFC profile for me.
I’m going on a little rant, because there are not enough girls in judo, or any martial art for that matter! I try to talk my friends into trying out judo and they’re all like no, without even a second thought. And I’m like seriously! If this is the way a lot of girls react when asked to try martial arts, there is a serious problem. You guys have never even tried martial arts, how do you even know if you would or wouldn’t like it or not?! It really makes me mad because like seriously there needs to be more girls in all martial arts. I for one am a judoka, but I have tried other martial arts, such as Tae Kwon Do, (I got up to red belt then I moved away) and even then there were very few girls, and back then I was younger and there were some girls but not many and most quit after a couple years. Now I am a green belt in judo ad HONESTLY! I come from a club full of guys, meaning I am generally partnered up with guys who are a good head and a half taller then I am. There needs to be more girls! Be that 6-10 year olds or my age (teenager) or older, regardless it would be nice to see then next generation of white belts in my club have some girls. Even if I wouldn’t be partnered up with them for a very long time it would be nice to know that girls are trying out martial arts (and even if some quit after a while, which some will for sure) it will be nice to know that more girls are trying martial arts. When I go to tournaments I talk to the girls I meet there and they’re all like, “Yeah I come from a club full of guys as well…!” and this really makes me want to get more girls in martial arts. Because we need more girls in tournaments, as partners and as friends who we can talk to about the attractive guys at our club, how we hate having to go to practice on our periods, how much we want to get a pink or blue or yellow or purple (etc) coloured gi, who we can talk about how ugly our hair gets and nails get! I’m not saying I’m anti guy or anything, the guys at my club are all really awesome to be friends with, but I’ve never have a partner my size and it would be much appreciated to have someone who will get excited with me on certain topics which I can’t talk about with guys. So this is why I’m sending out a challenge to all you martial arts girls! If you do any martial art, be that karate, judo, tae kwon do, bjj ANYTHING! I challenge you to bring one friend who is a girl with you to practice this summer!
