aria  smiled at  the  other’s compliment.  “  i’m  pretty  sure  it  was  amazing  even  before  i  worked  there, i’m  pretty  sure  i’ve  worn  my  hair  in  all  the  colors   possible  ”  the  girl  chuckled. “  i  have  the  counter of  my  parent’s place  in  porto  stained  with  red  dye  ”  she  explained  with  a  smile  on  her  lips.  “  i  mean,  they  do  wanna  cut  their  sons  hair,  but  it’s  like  …  i  don’t  know  what  it  is,  but  they  will  have  their  hair  back  in  no  time  ”  she  shrugged. “  but  i  guess  going  from  a  quite  long  curly  hair  to  a  short  hair  it’s  a  big  change for  their  mothers ?  ”

“Maybe I’ll book an appointment sometime with you. I’d love some color in my hair. It would be exciting.” It would be the most exciting thing she’d actually ever done — it was no secret that she preferred books and brains to parties and people. “That makes sense. Boys hair probably grows faster since it’s cut more often.”

“I think kids always think adults other than their parents and teachers are cool. And even some of their teachers seem cool, if they’re young and probably not very good teachers,” or maybe he was speaking from his own childhood experience, long ago as it may have been. “Are TikTok dances, like, long? Like full three-minute experiences or are they the little snippets of hand motions and stuff?”

“Well when you put it like that, maybe I should strive to be very uncool,” Nora mused, both of her brows knitting together. “I think they can be as long or short as we want, TikToks can be up to ten minutes now the last time I checked.” She shrugged.

“You’re pretty much right about that.” he agreed with Nora, still smiling. “I’m just seeing where the day takes me. I didn’t have any jobs planned today so I decided to do a ‘no thoughts head empty’ day. Although I guess thats not too different than how I usually am.” he joked.

She nodded, a small chuckle leaving her lips. “I think you’re sometimes a little smarter than you think you are.” It was only in Nora’s nature to steer conversations in a more optimistic direction. She would never inadvertently agree with anyone’s self-deprecating jokes, no matter how light-hearted they were.

Dustin was enjoying the sun on this bright day. He looked over at the person who joined them and waved with his dopey grin across his face. “Beautiful day ain’t it?”

“I’m starting to think that it’s always a beautiful day here,” Nora admitted, returning the smile. “Got any plans? Seems like the day is too pretty to waste,” she added, tilting her head. 

the  brunette opened  her  eyes  wide,  a  smile  on  her  lips.  “  oh,  wow  ”  she  chuckled. aria  could  see  she  was  smart,  she  was  for  sure  if  she  had  a  degree. “  i  bet  you  learn  a  lot  with  those  kids  ”  aria  smiled at  the  other.   “  yeah  …  i’m  not  going  to  take  any  risk  ”  she  shook  her  head.  “  the  only  thing  i  have  to  deal  involving  kids  is  cutting their  hair  and  …  well  when  that  happens  their  relatives  crying  ”  she  laughed. “  a  mother cried  because  it  was  her  kid’s  first  hair  cut  once  ”

“Right, you work at Margaret’s. It makes sense, your hair always looks amazing,” Nora complimented with a smile. She laughed softly at her story, nodding along. “I’m sure that happens more often than not. Do you ever have to cut toddlers’ hair, then? How do you get them to sit still?” She asked curiously. 

“  yeah,  maybe  you’re right  ”  she  decided  to  agree,  it  was  true,  those  things were  just  completely different.  “  we’ll  make  sure  not  to  post  it  on  tiktok, i’m  pretty  sure  you’re  not  going  viral  if  we  don’t  post  it  ”  aria  chuckled, nudging  the  other  side  with  a  smile  on  her  lips.  “  i  really think  you  guys  are  amazing, i  could  never, i  get  stressed to  be  honest ”  she  told  the  other. “  when  i  was  back  home,  i  used  to  take  a  kid  from  her  school to  her  dancing classes  in  the  afternoons  …  that  was  a  huge  fail  …  i  can’t  imagine  myself taking  care  of  a  whole  class  ”

“I’m rarely wrong,” Nora joked, flashing Aria a grin. And while she was just joking, it was no secret that the woman was smart. Anyone that knew her well enough would say that books were her favorite past time. “Most people who say that actually end up working really well with children. It is a little bit of a learning curve at first, but in the long run? Totally worth it.” She smiled.

“  i  yeah,  i  totally  get  that,  it’s  not  as  if  i  seek  it  but  …  if  i  post  something  on  instagram  or  anything  and  people  likes  it’s  fine  with  me  ”  she  laughed, a  soft  smile  on  her  lips.  “  sounds  fair,  i  bet  they’ll  love  it  ”  aria  assured. “  you’ll  be  the  nice  teacher,  they’ll be  asking  you  to  play  it  more  than  one  time  though ”

“That’s a little different than being famous, I think. I don’t mind posting photos on Instagram, but a viral TikTok holds a lot more gravity.” She shivered once more, shaking her head. “That’s half the job, isn’t it? Entertainment.” Nora laughed softly.

“  oh  wow,  is  someone  scared of  popularity  ?  ”  she  asked  teasingly, she  could  understand that,  she  could  feel  her  mother  always felt  that  way  when  it  came  to  her,  but  …  who  cares.  “  i’m  sorry, but  after  you  said  that  you  signed a  verbal  contract …  you’ll  have  to  send  that  to  me  ”  aria  teased, sticking  her  tongue out  at  the  other.

“I guess you could say that. Any sort of attention on me is just... no thanks.” She shrugged, laughing nervously. “Fine, you and the kids that I work with. No one else,” Nora agreed, laughing with her friend. 

“Who else is going to be as cool as you when you go and show them you know all the moves?” Nikolai didn’t know any TikTok dance trends if he was being honest. Although, he saw a lot of dancing videos on his feed all of the time. “I doubt it! They’ll probably be really impressed.”

“Maybe the people on TikTok? Fred Astaire himself? Just to name a couple,” Nora joked, her eyelids crinkling into her smile. “I’ll dance at the risk of my own humiliation, just for the toddlers I work with though.”

aria  looked at  the  young  woman  next  to  her  with  an  amused  smile  on  her  lips.  “  wow,  we  would  have  another  famous  person  around, that  would  be  so  funny  ”  she  mentioned, she  could  see  zara’s  posts  everywhere,  she  had  a  problem  with  those.  “  it  wouldn’t be  ridiculous,  i  think  it  would  be  fun  ”  aria  assured, “  i  mean  i  would  have  loved  someone  trying to  be  as  cool  when  i  was  their  age  ”

“God, no.” Nora shook her head at the thought of that ever happening, a horrified expression on her face. At most, she just wanted to be popular to the children she hung out with at work and the families she served. “It would be fun, but I’ll probably just dance for five year olds.” She chuckled.

Nikolai knew the exact TikTok dance that the female was referring too and he couldn’t help but to have a smile on his face at the thought of it. “Come on! Give yourself some well deserved credit. I think that they’d think you’re the coolest for knowing that dance.”

“Sometimes I think there’s such a thing as too much credit,” Nora disagreed, shaking her head. “But, I’ll try it anyways. The worst thing that can happen is I get a pea thrown at my head or something.” 

Well that depends on how old the kids are, I guess? I feel like at a certain age kids go from looking up to people to looking down on them real quick. I don’t even know what dance trend you’re talking about, actually - my for your page is mostly home improvement stuff and people cooking food.

“Do you ever use the home improvement tips or all the different recipes?” Nora asked curiously, tilting her head. She sometimes saw recipes herself, but most times she ended up saving the videos and never attempting to make the food. Besides, she was much more of a baker. “The oldest child I babysit is about five, so maybe they already think I’m cool. At least I hope they do.” She chuckled.
