God, remember when the first episode of Yuri on Ice straight-baited?
We get a shot of a woman in her twenties, with a focus on her ass, and then she looks at the camera with a cute expression. And youāre like, oh, okay,, the love interest is here. Yuuri says, āsheās still as pretty as everā and you find out that theyāre childhood friends through a series of flashbacks. In one flashback sheās defending Yuuri from their third rinkmate who bullies Yuuri for being chubby. He skates for her, implying what heās about to do is so intimate and personal that heās only comfortable with her watching, and she gets emotional during the performance (which is a program about love and longing and loneliness). Yuuri finishes skating, and is about to confess somethingā¦ā¦
And then over the course of the next two seconds we meet her DAUGHTERS (toddlers Axel, Lutz, and Loop), and her HUSBAND (their third rinkmate) and Yuuri just starts monologuing about Victor again instead of lamenting the fact that Yuuko is married with three children
And then nine episodes later Yuuri is engaged to a man. So like
I always think back fondly to episode 10 of YOI and how up to that point the whole fandom was speculating about Victorās motivations. Was he just using Yuuri to get his inspiration back or revitalize his own career? Was he terminally ill and couldnāt skate competitively anymore and was living vicariously through Yuuri? Why was he really doing all this?
And then episode 10 hits and it turns out nah, Victor doesnāt have some hidden agenda or dark secret, heās just the worldās biggest lovesick puppy who fell in love with a drunk guy who danced with him at a party and then never called him back and left him pining for 6 months until he saw a YouTube video of his dream boy doing his routine and obviously this is destiny calling him to drop his highly successful career to chase after True Love because Victor Nikiforov wants to live his life like a romcom protagonist.

Headcanon that while Yurio was in Hasetsu, he and Viktor got into a very intense argument. It was completely in Russian, so no one could understand them. Everyone, especially Yuuri, was concerned that this was a major fight that would severely impact their friendship and drive a wedge between them for years.
But in reality it was because Viktorās phone charger is across the room and Yuri refused to get it for him.
