My work channels my most personal life experiences - my emotionally abusive ex, the love of my life, my soul mate 2,000 miles away, my brother, my catholic guilt, my eating disorder, my anxiety, my trust issues, my aloof father, my good friends, my abandonment issues, my growing up and out - into public physical work. I and the art inform each other and respond to one another. The process entails obsessive destruction and compulsive refashioning. A small element of chance begins a form, which implies the concept until a point where the concept begins to guide the form. Multiple media and multiple ideas are combined to explore and illustrate the similarities and roots of divergent entities. As such amalgamations develop, I imbue them with my light and love; i consider them at once new beings fashioned out of old energy and spells for benevolent futures. Ideas in each individual piece are assembled and cultivated to ONE GOAL: public and personal resonance between the work and the audience and ultimately between myself and each individual in the audience. The work became the way I love myself. It is my desire to love, to be loved, to understand, and to be understood.

The work and the maker are intrinsically inseparable. The maker lives her life as performance art and channels her personal life happenings into the physical work. The work illustrates the maker in a way that is more public than any one personal life can be in and of itself. The end goal of the public work is personal and public resonance between the work and the audience and ultimately between the maker and each individual in the audience. The process employs a small element of chance, to which the maker inevitably and ineffably responds – material and form are dictated by concept, and by law of contradiction, vice versa. A responsive process is highly sensitive to the emotional instability of the maker and allows the maker’s life to be transcended into PERFORMANCE, wherein every action, reaction, dialogue, and experience, becomes an essential ingredient in the work as a whole. To understand the work is to understand a maker. The line between art and religion in this sense is blurred – both institutions are fed by a desire to understand and to be understood. The work becomes a new religion, a religion in which only the maker may worship but to which an audience is invited ONLY AS AUDIENCE.
