So imma go off about my hc Zim was programmed DELIBERATELY to be a Defect by the Control Brains, basically made to be a virus if there’s someone in the Empire not needed, there’s an activation in Zim’s programming in his PAK to make him do whatever they want, nothing but a tool, a weapon for their big plan for the universe, when they take control Zim’s PAK panels go from pale pink to a blinding dark blue, and markings resembling glitchy microchip symbols appear all over his body and his eyes glow white, and for Zim, it’s like his memory goes blank, he disassociates up until it’s over.

The Control Brains literally wipe Zim’s memory every time they do this, it was really them who were behind Tallest Miyuki and Spork’s deaths, everything Zim is hated for and a large bit of what he hates about HIMSELF thinking deep down all he ever does is destroy and that maybe he’s not meant to be happy. But no, he’s the Control Brains little scape goat so not to ‘waste time’ with a Trial or anything, he gets all the blame, his own BODY was violated, at least usually in the Empire Irkens had orders to follow, Zim didn’t get CONSENT let alone orders of any kind, if he found out, it’d devastate him, it’d make him feel dirty and who could blame him?
