Most convincing piece of evidence for timetravel I’ve ever seen

For years I was convinced that I was either hallucinating or had hearing damage, because electronics always made this high-pitched whine that was closer to being felt than heard, and nobody else knew what I was talking about. Then I met other autistic people.

Oh heck yeah. I’m ADHD and I CONSTANTLY hear electronics.  To the point where I can tell the EXACT moment when power goes out, or comes back on, because the eerie silence either starts up or stops, when it does. Even if I am passed out, I notice it; I know this because the last time we lost power in the middle of the night, I WOKE UP because all the normal Background Noise I was used to had suddenly cut off! Right now I can hear the large monitor across the room, the fan of the laptop it’s plugged into, the HDD and fan working on MY laptop, the phuh-phuh-phuh-clicks of the ceiling fan, and I think the AC? I can filter out almost NONE of it.  If I don’t have earplugs in, I can also usually hear my cell phone on the charging cord (I can’t right now because it’s not yet back on the charger, but). Never tried a wireless charger, but yeah on a cord it definitely does! It’s been suggested by some researchers here and there that basically, ADHD seems to be just what you get when you take an ideal hunter-gatherer brain and stick it in modern life with its tons of distractions and strict diurnal schedules and sitting still a lot and a whole bunch other stuff that just isn’t ideal for people suited to that lifestyle at all, and the neurotype is not well-adapted for it, and so it becomes overwhelmed. Stuff like this makes me think that theory is pretty plausible, because wow, being hypersensitive to sounds and changes in sounds and their quality, especially in higher pitches, would seem to be real handy for a hunter or person just generally out in the wilderness, huh? HMMM. (Being hypersensitive to Noticing clutter or “out of place” things, which are pretty common among ADHD folks and I know I experience all the time, also makes sense for the gatherer half of hunter-gatherer, just sayin’)
