Asmodeus gave a wide toothy grin, the smile lighting up his whole face. “Lucky guess, or maybe I’m just really good at reading people.” A small shrug followed as he slid his body onto the stool that had previously been occupied by her reason for needing a drink. “I saw that asshole from over there,” he pointed across the room, toward the other bar area. “It looked like he was giving you a hard time…hence needing a drink.”

Uriel tsked under his breath, head shaking. “Who would have thought the great ferryman of the dead would turn into a crazy cat lady who likes to pick fights with mere mortals.” Had it been anyone else, the tone would have been mocking, derisive to an extreme, but with Kharon Uriel was simply teasing. “Which loser did you fuck with, and would you like me to kill him?”

“Oh my god.” Eyes rolled as Noah grabbed Skipper gently by the arm. “You can’t do this to yourself. You will waste away to nothing, and then what good would you be? A walking skeleton?” He angled them both toward the street, a plethora of restaurants at their disposal. While he didn’t usually go out of his way to make sure humans were taken care of, he had an imagine to uphold. And…he had to admit that Skipper looked a bit off.  

That he even noticed Skipper’s state annoyed Noah to no end.

The blood was annoying, sticky and reeking of iron. His hands scrubbed against one another, trying in vain to wash the evidence down the drain before Lucas made his way into the bathroom. From the sound of the footsteps, it wasn’t likely that he would succeed. “Before you freak out…” He began speaking even before he laid eyes on his companion. “It’s not my blood.” Rivulets of pink water ran down the drain as Asmodeus scrubbed until he was content with the light stain on his skin. “And yes, he deserved it.”

Months had passed since he told Lucas that he was in danger, and those months had been filled with one angel after another attempting to claim the prestige of ending Lucifer’s life. Protecting him, though? It wasn’t something Asmo had ever dreamed himself doing.

And yet…

A ringed finger tapped against his jaw, attention fully focused on the way Wen Qing worked. In all his years, Xie Wang had never been one to overly worry if someone lived or died but watching the care she put into the healing of his men was extraordinary. She likely knew they were not the best that society had to offer, and yet she treated each one with the care and patience that she might use with an innocent child. It was…confusing.

“I’m convinced that Lucifer created pumpkin spice. It is something my brother would do, without question.” Long fingers idly brushed against Astor’s arm, as Gabriel nodded his head in the direction of the coffee shop. He wanted tea, something to warm the chill that had settled against his skin, but autumn’s most polarizing scent had drifted his way once a passerby opened the door.

They said revenge was a dish best served cold, but then Sangjun had never really been one that craved that feeling. Sure, he’d had more than his fair share of run-ins with reasons to be vengeful, but it never sat right with him once all was said and done. He carried an incredible amount of guilt over his father - not that he killed him, anyone with a brain could have seen how that played out – but how he’d let things get as bad as they did before he took control of the situation.

“Perhaps I poisoned you.” Cold metal rings enveloped fingers that traced lightly along the other man’s jawline. There was no malice in his words, no attempt at anything other than coy – if a little sinister – flirtation. Or perhaps it was simply the knowledge that they should not, under any circumstances, be doing what they were currently doing. Pressed against the back wall of an inn, out of the prying eyes of others, dagger softly held in his hidden hand – no threat, at least not yet, he let his lips drag lazily along Zhou Zishu’s once more. “Are you complaining? Again? If so, then perhaps these little clandestine meetings should cease…”

Even as Xie Wang said the words, he knew there was no intent to follow through, and it was that knowledge that made the threat so easily able to pass his lips. For as long as fate stood to the side, kept their destinies from crashing violently against one another, it was safe to play cat and mouse – safe to chase his lips once more. “Or, you could tell me what you’re doing here. What drug you from the Window of Heaven to this…” Eyes shifted, taking in the rather bleak surroundings. “Pit.”

Likely, Xie Wang already knew; they were there for the same thing.
