Doomsday is Coming

Michael Phelps announced his retirement (for the second and last time) on August 12, 2016. He’d know when to get out of the water, wouldn’t he?

Turns out, The Lorax isn’t the only Dr. Seuss book published on August 12th.

Horton Hears a Who! was published on August 12th, 1954

Green Eggs and Ham was published on August 12th, 1960

The Lorax was published on August 12th, 1971

Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now! was published on August 12th, 1972

We’re seeing a pattern here. From each of these books, a connection can be drawn to our theory:

HHaW! features the impending doom of an entire planet––their destruction is through boiling in oil, a liquid

GEaH is perhaps the strongest case beside TL. It includes “Green” in the title, a color of well-established significance in this theory. 

Its cover art, despite the word “green” being in the title, uses red as the dominant color. This book was also written (in response to a bet made by Dr. Seuss’ editor) using exactly 50 different words.

MKMWYPGN! is a story about a boy repeatedly being rejected and told to leave, like the human race is about to be rejected from the Earth (like in the First Flood [Noah’s Ark 1.0])

According to the The Cambridge Dictionary, ‘Go’ means, “To travel or move to another place.”

According to The Oxford English Dictionary, ‘Go’ means, “Move from one place to another; travel.”

Our Spanish teacher recently exclaimed (in an abrupt interruption to a presentation on deforestation) that his nickname is “The Lorax.”

The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss, is a children’s book whose mission is to dissuade readers from allowing deforestation. 

However, this is just too convenient:

August 12th

This book, about the chopping down of trees (possibly to build an ark), was published on August 12th.

Dr. Seuss may be involved.

So far, we think that our math teacher may be involved. Is it possible that anyone else knows about doomsday and is preparing for it? Since we’ve established that this is Noah’s Ar(c) 2.0, could anyone be building an ark?

Two people come to mind:

A close friend of the coauthors, who should not be named, never in her life has worn a flannel. Until one fateful day. Since around the times of the first discoveries, she has, out of nowhere, begun wearing a red flannel (lumberjack shirt) with increasing frequency.

Our Spanish teacher has recently revealed a longtime passion for protecting the environment.

Our current unit in Spanish class is an environmental unit

Although this covers most areas of environmental protection, our Spanish teacher has a suspicious tendency to dwell upon deforestation

Logs=planks

Planks=what is used to make boats

Some boats=Arks

It is as if he is trying to convince us that he is not cutting down trees

We (the coauthors of this blog) recently came to discover a bizarre coincidence in which we both started our periods on the very same day (August 12th, 2013).
