July 17 Day 1 walked to Van Gogh museum via a smartshop and took the tram back to the hostel, deliriously tired. Decided to go for a curry but took the tram in the wrong direction. On the walk back toward the hostel I stopped at green elephant a neighborhood bar for a drink and dinner and walked along the zoo. The neighborhood is called Plantage poorly translated to plantation, and houses the botanical garden and is incredibly lush. Although poorly photographed there are beautiful climbing plants, blooming roses, towering hollyhocks, and diverse flora in every nook and cranny of this stone, brick and cobblestone city. I noticed real storks on day 1 but didn’t believe my eyes. There’s a real comeback in the number of nesting storks as of 2023 per news coverage that year.
