Annabelle looked over at him and smiled, her mind going back to the next time she’d be able to kiss him that way. In her room, probably, if he really did stay over. “I’m sure I’ll like it. Do you know what else I like?” she squeezed his hand gently. “You call me Anna. There’s just something about the way you say it. Nobody else calls me that, I really love it.” It always send a shiver down her spine, him saying her name had to be one of her favorite things. She watched as the server handed Theo this odd looking…sort of like fried dough thing, and followed him to the picnic table, unsure of what it actually was. “Me? I don’t, I mean- alright. I can try it.” She broke off a piece and took a small bite before deciding she actually really did like it seconds later. “It’s good! Is that sugar on it? Here.” Annabelle laughed and took another piece, narrowing her eyes at him. “Do you trust me? I’m going to feed it to you.”

“I’d like that,” she smiled and leaned over, kissing him quickly. Not everything had to be hidden, and they had decided this was a date. “The dark ride was perfect for kissing you in a way I wouldn’t right here.” A blush crept into her cheeks and she sipped at her apple cider to hide it, her other hand reaching for his. “I don’t think you would ever do that. That’s why you never deserved to be treated so poorly, you treat everyone else so well.” She knew he wouldn’t take advantage of her being kind to him, he wasn’t that type of person. “You are right, this was all my idea,” she laughed and nudged his arm with hers teasingly, bobbing her head when he mentioned funnel cake. “I think so. I have no idea, I don’t know if I’ve ever had it, but I like most food. I’m not very picky, is it sweet?” She looked over and smiled, it looked like it was meant to be some sort of dessert. “Let’s try it, it looks good,” she smiled and leaned into him for warmth as they waited, feeling less shy about being close to him now that they’d actually talked about it. “Just no spinning rides after this…” 

She sighed and smiled. It was a relief that he was okay with her coming over and offering plans at the last minute. It wasn’t something she’d normally do, but she wanted to see him regardless. “You wouldn’t?” Annabelle paused, taking care to remember that before continuing their conversation, though not her mind was on the shower and not on whatever it was they were talking about. Her hands found their way to the apple cider on their own, still focused elsewhere until he started speaking again. “I wouldn’t pressure you. I’m not, I don’t want you to think I am. I am just happy seeing you? Kissing you, you know what I mean.” She stumbled along her words, glad that Theo continued talking and had given her a reason to stop herself. “I care about you. I want to understand because I think you were cheated before. Out of a good relationship, I think you deserved better than what you’ve always gotten. So even if this ends up being nothing,” she motioned between the two of them, taking a quick sip of her apple cider, “at least you’ll know how you should be treated.” She smiled up at him shyly, embarrassed at the few things she’d confessed but knew he wouldn’t judge her for them. “This is really perfect. The apple cider, the whole date actually. Thank you, Theo.” 

“It’s my fault, I was the one who asked you to come,” Annabelle shrugged her shoulders and smiled. She didn’t think he’d say yes so she hadn’t used the right wording. Food was a good idea, especially after the boat ride, and she looked around the park at the various stands, not really having any idea where to go or what to pick. It was a relief that Theo found the line for the apple cider, so she wasn’t standing there looking so lost. “I won’t lure you into my shower, don’t worry.” She shook her head and smiled, hiding her laughter. It had just been an odd way to get to know each other, but she had no regrets about it. As they reached the line, she turned to him, her features turning more serious. “Theo, you know I’m not pushing you. If you don’t want this to be a date, or if you want to take things at a snail’s pace, I’m okay with that. I just like you,” she narrowed her eyes, biting upon her lower lip nervously. “I don’t want you to be nervous. When I first got here, let’s just say someone wanted to practically get married within a few days.” She knew what it was like to be pushed and trying to please someone else. “Anyway. I just mean that it’s fine if you don’t want…me. Not that I think you don’t, I don’t know what I’m saying! I’m nervous. Please tell me to shut up now…” 

Annabelle wished she could see his expression more then, how he sounded so positive about everything. “You should have kissed me,” she replied quietly and nodded. She was always anxious, but things were easier with Theo. If she could get over her nerves, she would be more confident. Theo had even told her he liked her, but it hadn’t sunk in for some reason. She was surprised when he kissed her, but it was what she had been hoping he would do. Annabelle sighed softly against his lips, lightly grazing her tongue along his lower lip. Her hands cupped his cheeks, giving into the kiss as they only had a short time left. It made her forget everything else, even how nervous she was, but how was she supposed to tell him that? She groaned softly when the boat started to pull to a more lighted area and she kissed him once more. She really didn’t want to stop, but she also knew she’d get to kiss him again, especially since he was staying over. “I don’t want to ever disappoint you, for the record,” she smiled softly, squeezing his hand and getting to her feet so they could get out of the boat. “I have a question.” Annabelle blushed pink before speaking again. “Is this a date?”
