Illusion
Crowds screaming my name in unison
The camera flashes blind my sight
People scream my name with joy
Not a care in the world
 Everyone comes up to me
To tell me they love me
I sign autographs with delight
Looking at the blur of faces
My emotions mixed with happiness and excitement
What can be better than this?
I’m loved, nothing can go wrong
I can’t be hurt here-
        Not ever
I’m untouchable.
My parents watch me amongst the crowd
Their arms around each other
        Looking as happy as ever
My siblings alongside them, clapping
Jumping up and down with joy
 What can go wrong?
I’m finally living the life I’ve always wanted
The thrill of the crowd enjoying my presence
Loving me
That is, until I come to
Reality hits me like a truck as I realize
The lights, the fans, the joy fades
As I realize it was all an illusion
Those screams aren’t for me,
They’re my parents screaming at each other
My siblings cling onto me for help
Shaking as the screaming and violence gets louder
My eyes adjust to the reality before me
It was never real. None of it was
My mind takes over in times of stress
        Projecting what I truly desire
Love
Admiration
Attention
And most importantly, peace
 I can’t help it
As soon as the violence starts, I travel
To a place where everything is ok
Where nothing can hurt me or the people I love
The only negative thing about this
It hurts me to think about
Is that it’s not real
My parents scream, my siblings cry
 So, I close my eyes
        And give into the illusion
