And then one day, he forgets to turn the lights back off (he had to switch them on for a second to look for something, because it’s so dark he can’t see a thing). This also happens to be the day that Lightning follows him back to his trailer, the two of them bickering about nothing, as per usual.

Storm reverses up the ramp and into his trailer, oblivious to the fact that all his posters with Lightning McQueen’s glorious face plastered to them are fully visible in the light—out in the open for everyone to see.

“And another thing—!” Storm stops short when he notices Lightning’s intrigued expression.

“Is that…?” Lightning peers into the trailer, a smile spreading across his front.

“What?” Storm follows his line of sight. Oh.

Storm locks eyes with Lightning, keeping himself impassive—refusing to betray any signs of emotion. He wracks his mind for possible excuses. “Whoa, how did those get there?” Or, “Oh, these aren’t mine—I’m holding them for a friend.” Or, “Your eyesight’s getting worse with your old age, McQueen. What you THINK you see is DEFINITELY not what it actually is.”

But before Storm can conjure up a single explanation, Lightning breaks into a shit-eating grin.

“Wow, Storm. It’s so great to meet my number one fan!”

So  I decided to re-design how I draw Humanized Jackson Storm after a few lessons in basic character deisigning. I based on @whipplefilter‘s headcanon of him being an Arab American XD ( I seriously love this hc <3) . 

So as you can see here it kinda like the process/evolution of how I design him (top to bottoom), it was pretty interesting experience. 

I kind of already answered this in another ask [x].

Tl;dr: In terms of facial structure and body shape, I base my own personal design of Jackson (in my mind) on Armie Hammer. I also like the idea of Jackson dying the top of his hair electric blue or having a few blue streaks (I’m really digging @softlight289‘s Arab Jackson right now~) because honestly, of course he would do that.

I mean, am I the only one who sees a least a little resemblance between these two? (he does voice him after all…)

And yeah, I just think Armie Hammer is dead ass good-looking and I could honestly stare at him all day.

Also, I’ve seen some people mention how Taylor Lautner or Ross Butler could play human Jackson and I dig that too.

But again, I don’t really have any single humanization set in my mind and I’ve seen sooo many good ones floating around in the fandom.

OH and in terms of how he dresses, he probably wears those track jackets, leather jackets, hoodies, high top Adidas shoes (that I actually own a pair of myself), slim fit jeans, and UGH I’m getting carried away, I wish Jackson were real.

Okay, let’s go with the scenario of Jackson and Cruz hooking up because I think that could be pretty interesting XD

Danny - Since I kind of ship Danny/Cruz, I like to imagine that Danny gets jealous. He obviously wouldn’t state it outright, since he’s been keeping his feelings a secret the whole time. He’d try to seem cool with it, but once he’s by himself, he’d get emotional. After some time, he would learn to be genuinely happy for them.

Chase - Not too thrilled. Since Chase is the type of guy who likes racing fair, he’d be disgusted by Jackson’s behavior toward Cruz at the Florida 500. Cruz is his friend, so he’d be concerned for her. It’ll take some time for him to warm up to the idea.

Bubba - Probably a somewhat similar reaction to Chase, but he’d be a little more open-minded and friendly.

Ryan - Since Ryan’s a pretty nice dude, I bet he’d be happy for them. Probably congratulate them and say something nice.

Tim - Finds it hard to believe that someone would put up with Jackson Storm for more than two minutes (he’s experienced Jackson’s attitude firsthand). “Wow… so he actually managed to find someone who loves him for who he is…” Underneath, though, I think Tim would be glad for him, and hope that maybe Jackson’s relationship would change him for the better.

Part 2 of the first ask.

Cruz Ramirez couldn’t believe it. Of all the people she could have fallen in love with, it just had to be him. The guy who insisted that she couldn’t be a racer. The guy who slammed her against the wall at the Florida 500. The guy whose ego was too big for his cab. But it happened nonetheless. It must have been because he wasn’t just “that guy.” He was something more.

When she first started approaching Jackson, it was with the goal of making amends. Cruz didn’t like the idea of there being bad blood between them, so she wanted to at least let him know that there were “no hard feelings.” But he rejected her. She expected as much. So she tried again… and again… and again…

She didn’t know why she was so persistent. She should have just given up the first time. But Cruz wasn’t one to give up, especially on other people. So maybe that was part of why she kept trying. Or maybe it was because she thought she saw something in him. Some potential. The potential to be better. And after that night at the bar, she believed it.

It took a while. All her usual tactics of motivating people seemed to be wasted on him. Those tactics included being annoyingly positive to the point of driving him crazy. They also included song and dance, which made Jackson roll his eyes so far back that all you could see was white.

“Morning, Storm! Ready for another great day of practice together?”

“Ughhhhhh.”

But they must have had some effect, because he started doing things that she normally wouldn’t have expected him to do. Things that could almost be called nice.

YOOO, me too!!! Thank you for requesting this, I’ve been wanting to write some romantic Jackson stuff! Since you didn’t specify who he would fall in love with, I’m just going to default to Cruz (also since I enjoy that ship). I feel like it’d be too hard for me to write a romantic scene between Jackson and someone nameless… So I hope that’s alright, and that you weren’t thinking of someone specific? 

Rivals to What? (Part ½)

Jackson Storm wasn’t a very romantic individual. In fact, the concept of “love” rarely ever occurred to him unless it was the self-love kind. So the realization that he was falling in love with someone other than himself was startling enough. But the fact that it was her—of all people—was just flat-out inconceivable.

He never liked her. From the moment he saw her, he thought she was beneath him—just some silly Costume Girl trainer who thought she could race with the big kids. But she proved him wrong. And that made him dislike her all the more.

But one way or another, she managed to get through to him—to knock down those walls he had built up so high, to keep everyone out because he couldn’t bear to have anyone know that there was nothing behind them. Nothing but a racing machine built to win races like they were X’s on a calendar. Nothing but a robot that only knew how to put up an unaffected front and repeat “Yes, sir,” “Thank you very much, sir” until he drove back home to his empty mansion at the end of the day where there was nothing too. But she saw something.

She must have. Why else was she so persistent in getting to know him, despite the fact that he wanted nothing to do with her? But she just kept coming back and coming back, and somehow convinced him to grab a drink with her—to exchange sob stories, is what he called it. Cruz first detailed her troubles growing up and being tight on money. Her self-confidence issues and how she was so afraid to fail. Jackson listened, and maybe it was the alcohol doing its work on him, but he was beginning to understand. And it was the last part that really struck a chord with him.

“I’m sorry,” he had told her.

An apology—he would give her that much. And then they could be on their merry, separate ways.

But then it was his turn.

This particular part of “Storm Chasing” by Dave Keane is what I think truly tells us what kind of guy Jackson Storm is. It’s on page 90-91

He’s been pushed to the side too many times, underappreciated below his emotional wealth (likely by most of the cars in his life).

Jackson is an example of a lonely car turned racer because it’s something that brings substance into his life (mostly anyway). To him, it’s more than just driving faster than 100mph, it’s the appreciation he never received finally earned.

And that’s where he’s different from Lightning McQueen, because McQueen more than likely had the whole privilege, such as when he told Cruz, “I just never thought I couldn’t”.

Lightning McQueen is an act of confidence, whereas Jackson Storm is an act of preservance. One is a car of twined pride and passion, the other is a car of deterance and yearning. This is where Lightning and Jackson are different.

All Ray had to do was give him praise— and genuine praise— for Jackson to push himself past embarrassment and discomfort to race. He just needed a little push of appreciation… but he’s still learning to deal with his deflated ego, because let’s face it, he loves getting praise, but isn’t a total egomaniac like Lightning once was, Jackson genuinely finds praise to be heartfelt— but he won’t tell you that. He likes the attention, but wants his space as well. He doesn’t care for interviews or fan much (unless it gets him good publicity, because most cars are boring to him). He just wants to enjoy his achievement of becoming a talented racer now, no extra stuff unless it’s money and praise from a distance. Don’t get in his way, or try to steal his new found thunder, he doesn’t like that, and he’s pretty good at making you feel like crap about it (see Cars 3 for proof).

On a side note, does anyone have a clue as to what face Jackson was making as Ray narrates “I could see Storm turning to look at me, but I didn’t take my eyes off the students…” (Storm Chasing, page 90-91)?

I have a feeling he was probably surprised and raising a brow in some sort of heartfelt ping of happiness. Then he showed it as he sped off down the track. Jackson finally felt appreciated in that moment. I find that so interesting!

so i finally watched Cars 3 and this is all i can think off when Smokey and Lighting talks about Hudson’s letters

when I first viewed the “Meet Jackson Storm” movie clip, and Jackson said “you have no idea what a pleasure it is to finally beat you”, I truly had a plot speculated (I avoided spoilers like the placue) where Jackson was a racer in the Piston Cup Series for a few years after Cars 1 or 2, and was this sort of a ‘nobody race car’ that was never in the limelight like Lightning McQueen. Jackson’s new, fast, cool, but he’s not inspirational.

Jackson has always been rough around the edges, and begins to loathe Lightning, progressively growing jealous of him getting all the attention from the media and praise for years. One fateful race, Jackson finally maks his mark with some throttle, and wins at the Copper Canyon Speedway, ready to jab McQueen about it.

Sometimes I feel like this could have been a promising plot, I know Pixar/Disney have created characters as such— Randall from Monster’s Inc. for example— I really think that could have been a great way to expand Jackson’s personality. Imagine seeing memories of Jackson’s and his calm, collected and cold expressions as he changes from “that guy over there” to “THAT. GUY. OVER. THERE.” after being overlooked as he watches Lightning get swooned by his fans, have a surrounding of supportive racing crew and sponsors, smooches from Sally, and all around, a popular guy on and off the track. We all know Lightning by now, but we get to see how other racers in his league view him as a competitor. More or less, the dark tales of car racing.

I mean, it’s a different route, but it could have built his personality better.
