Circuit Breaker Maintenance :
The circuit breaker must first be switched off and then isolated from both sides by opening the electrical isolator concerned to maintain the circuit breaker or circuit breaker.
At this no isolated condition, the circuit breaker must be operated annually and when necessary for local and remote condition. The circuit breaker should be operated electrically from the local and distant and then mechanically from the local. This kind of operation makes the breaker more reliable by removing any coating produced between sliding surfaces.
Bulk Oil Circuit Breaker Maintenance :
We should test for contact burning for the bulk petroleum circuit breaker. Remove the burning beads and polish the surface if burning is very light. If it is quite heavy to burn, substitute the tips and arcing ring with a fresh set. Before the final binding is finished, we should loose and close the tips a few times.
 We should also inspect the extinguishing chamber on top of that. It must be separated from the breaker unit and maintained as upside down after washing the chamber by insulating oil. If any sections condition suggests serious burning, the chamber should be dismantled and the burned / damaged parts replaced.
 The next point is the CB system for cleaning and lubricating. Non-fluffy cotton cloths should remove the rust on the system and also from the metal mechanism box surface. High grade grease should lubricate the system including gear wheel. But it should be remembered that it is necessary to lubricate the friction clutch. If the minimum oil circuit breaker MOCB is used, the insulator must be washed and the carbon deposition must be removed if Trichloro Ethylene or Acetone is used to remove any. In addition to this overall guidance, the handbook supplied by the manufacturer for greasing and lubricating should also be followed.
The tie rod locking pins should be inspecte dsemi-annually. All the electrical terminal connections of the foundation bolts at the CB energy circuit have to be correctly tightened after removing the oxide coating if not. This has to be performed six months a year.
The right adjustment of the auxiliary switch by ensuring right NO NC connections at breaker OFF and ON condition must be verified half-yearly and the contacts of the auxiliary switch should be correctly washed with the assistance of tough brushes.
The engine and mechanism for spring charging should also be washed and the related bearing should also be lubricated half a year.
Minimum Oil Circuit Breaker Maintenance :
The breaker should be monitored monthly for oil leakage and oil concentration in the event of MOCB. If oil leakage is discovered, care must be taken and oil must be added to the point of willingness for low oil level.
 Visual inspection of the circuit breaker and its working mechanism together with painting quality, mechanism kiosk door gasket should be performed quarterly if proper action is taken by any damaged found.
If leakage is discovered, substitute the faulty and damaged O-rings, the oil dash pot in the working system must be checked quarterly for oil leakage.
It is also strongly recommended to guarantee annual reclosure of the breaker's prescribed duty cycle of operation.
Maintenance of Air Blast Circuit Breaker:
In addition to general instructions for maintaining the working system, there are some unique cares to be taken for air blast circuit breaker. In fact, the maintenance methods and plans are the same for all oil circuit breakers, air circuit breakers, SF6 circuit breakers and vacuum circuit breakers for working systems and other characteristics.
The air leakage should be verified as and when needed in the air circuit breaker. If there is a leakage, plug the leakage.
It is necessary to check the grading capacitors for monthly oil leakage. If there was a leakage, plug it. With the assistance of Dew Point Meter or Hygro Meters, the dew point of the working air at the air dryer outlet should be evaluated annually.
 SF6 Circuit Breaker Maintenance:
 As we said previously, maintenance procedures and schedules are the same for all oil circuit breakers, air circuit breakers, SF6 circuit breakers and vacuum circuit breakers for working systems and some other characteristics. Besides that, some additional care must be taken in SF6 CB.
 It is necessary to check the SF6 circuit breaker for SF6 gas leakage if there is an unwanted low gas alarm. This is performed effectively by detecting gas leakage.
If gradient condensers are supplied to the circuit breaker, these must be inspected monthly for oil leakage. If there was a leakage, plug it.
Dew point of SF6 should be inspected at every 3 to 4 years interval with the assistance of dew point meter or hygro meter.
Maintenance of vacuum circuit breaker There is nothing special for vacuum circuit breaker all processes and schedules are the same as for other circuit breaker.
