Beauty Thief

It was a few days late, but it still was a mindful gesture from the Ace Detective. Even though she found comment about the born and dying part a little uncomfortable to read, she appreciated the gesture nonetheless.

“Mako-chan!” Pure delight could be heard in Haru’s voice. That Makoto went out of her way to get her that tea cup set was a super kind gesture. Especially considering their promise of ‘having a tea party together very soon’ from not too long ago. Of course a tea loving and wealthy girl like herself, already had a fair amount of very expensive tableware like these. However, these definitely will be her new favorite set, after all, it was the only and first one she got from someone very important to her. 

Visiting one of the people, that was patially responsible for the murder of her own father, wasn’t anything Haru ever thought she would do. But it wasn’t the first time, that certain circumstances lead her to do things, that she never expected she would do before. 

Still, she had to admit, it was kind of hard to confront him alone for the first time after the incident happened. But before she could find the fitting greeting for the ex-detective, he opened his mouth first, sounding as if he already knows very well, how she struggled with herself to even come here. 

“I’m glad you don’t missunderstand, I still don’t intend to forgive you, for what you have done to my father, and I also never will. However... I’m also aware that the path you chose back then, and the decisions you made, weren’t yours alone, Akechi-kun.” In the end he even sacraficed himself for the phantom thieves, of course it wasn’t enough to redeem himself fully. Truly nothing he could do, could ever bring her father and the other lives he took away back, but the empress was mature enough to know this. Still, seeing pass his crimes was a hard thing to do, but a little part inside of her that sympathizes with him also existed.

    “The language of flowers does seem rather vast. Although, I suppose receiving them in a bouquet gives a feeling my textbooks aren’t able to describe.” A little laugh left the president’s lips as her eyes shifted from the flowers to the florist within view. It was intriguing to hear Haru talk so passionately about her hobbies– That was a trait the girl couldn’t help and find admirable. She didn’t doubt that Haru knew more about them than her and that fact was only affirmed with her comment about tea.

    “Tea? I can’t say I have. What does the tea taste like? I imagine they all have their own distinct aromas, too. It does sound like it would be worth trying, though. I’ll have to make sure to do so.” Tea did have its own health benefits to a degree, but that was besides the point. Perhaps she would see for herself sometime what it tasted like– Surely a different feeling than coffee.

“You’re right. Does that mean you haven’t received a bouguet of flowers before, Mako-chan? Haha, perhaps I could change that. Too bad your birthday did already pass, but I’ll surely find another occasion! Let it surprise you, alright?”

The empress really wasn’t used all too well, to hang out with a friend casually like that. It was really nice to be able to talk about her own interests for once. She rarely had the chance to do so with the people she usually conversed with. So she really wouldn’t mind to thank Makoto with a bouquet of flowers for her time. 

“It’s a shame you never have tried it before. Perhaps next to our coffee meeting, we also should plan a tea party ahead? I would love to show you all kind of different flavors of tea.” Just the thought of ivinting her friend to her place made Haru excited. She really was happy to have a friend, she will also graduate together with at the end of the year.

    She smiled softly at Haru’s words– She held an air of confidence when it came to her friend’s cooking. “Of course. I have no reason to refuse. I’m looking forward to it,” she said with a small chuckle at the end of her sentence. Makoto was familiar with the scents of coffee and teas, but pumpkin cookies surely would have a delectable flavor (and aroma) of their own. Honestly, she really was eager to try it.

    “I’ve read about them in my biology books. I haven’t done extensive research on them. A florist, you say? That does sound nice. I’d be happy to tag along. I’m a bit curious to see what they would have to say about their flower arrangement choices.” She knew that each one always held meaning and were color coordinated, but perhaps there was more of an art behind the work. “A favorite flower? Hm.. Tulips are pretty. I’m assuming you have a favorite, too? It’s a shame I’m not able to keep plants at my home, but it can’t be helped.”

With an impressed expression, she looked with big eyes towards her friend. Makoto always was so knowledgable about just any topic. It was rather remarkable, how she was able to converse with her about just anything. It really made Haru want to read a lot more books outside of her own interests as well.
