Ninja Never Quit: A Ninjago Musical

Happy New Year everyone! (Or Eve depending on what time zone you are in)

2024 has gone by in a flash and unfortunately we weren't able to get any parts of the musical out... BUT we do have The Overture in a rough draft animatic state. I would love to show it to you, but you guys will just have to wait a bit longer (but not too much longer) to get a first look at the musical. We at the musical team want to thank you for sticking through this with us after all these years and rest assured we plan to see this project through.

We have done a complete overhaul of all our character designs! We will be hosting a live stream on July 24th @ 5:30 PM CST on our YouTube Channel; as well as a Voice Call on our Community Discord, to show them off!

1.) How did you become the director?

I became the director of the project after the previous director was let go for reasons I will not disclose. It is not my place to say anything. Hope you all can understand.

2.) How has your journey as the director affected your life? The journey has been quite the rollercoaster since taking over last October, but after almost a year of work, I would say we are in a good spot. Certainly has made my life a lot more interesting.

3.) How did you motivate everyone helping the project to continue work?

I've been trying to make sure due dates are adhered to, but never forcing people out for missing them. People seem to enjoy the freedom of the project, but also understand there is a timeline for most things.

4.) What do you do to stay calm when production doesn't go as planned? I just think about all the progress that has been done in just a year and think about all the progress that was not happening before hand. Helps me stay calm knowing the project is in such good hands now.

5.) I would personally like to give a special shout out to my best friend from college! @cboffshore Without you I wouldn't have learned about this amazing project! You are an amazing friend and hope we can hang out again soon! KEEP ON SPINNING!

IT IS OFFICIAL EVERYONE! THE SCRIPT FOR THE MUSICAL HAS FINALLY BEEN COMPLETED (…again)! Now that the script and the cast has been announced we are going to be starting voice recording soon. We still have a few roles that we are going to possibly be filling In-House. -🐍

The art department showcase from June 1st is now live on our Youtube! I hope everyone is as excited as I am!

We're having a watch party for Dragons Rising on June 1st at 6:30 PM CST in the Community Discord! Not only that, but the musical has started background art and we may have few pieces to show off to you at the end of the watch party, but like they say: Be there or Be square. The VisDev is looking for new members! If you like to draw or paint, this is the perfect job for you!

We will be working on character design, background design, storyboards and much more! The only thing you really need is some experience with design and to be able to imitate a style

Auditions are open again and Master Wu needs to have his voice heard! He is the only character we need to fill right now, but feel free to sign up for the ensemble role. It is just as important as any other role!

- 9 scenes left in the script to be completed, hoping to have a final draft by June/July

- No song list available yet, but hoping to get one out by June/July as well

- Song Composition is in early development

- Art is on hold until script is in final draft

- We currently only have 1 scriptwriter as the rest of the scriptwriters are taking a leave of absence for personal reasons

- We have 3 songwriters, but finals have slowed development

- We have 7 artists who are very talented and will have progress as soon as script is finished

- Additionally, we apologize that this project has been going on for so long, but rest assured that this project is in active development. This project means the world to all the staff and it will not take another five years. That is a promise; Keep on spinning! - 🐍

As you have probably noticed, the social medias have been much more active lately. That's partly due to our two new social media managers: English and Maddie! To make it easier to tell us apart from each other, we will be using emotes instead of my signature (Director) tag or in their case (Community Manager) tag.

The emotes will be: 🐍 for Zygarde, 🦆 for English, and 🥦 for Maddie. (English is mostly on TikTok, Maddie is mostly on Instagram, and Zygarde is mostly on Twitter, as well as our rarely used Tumblr page. We thought this would be much easier to keep track of compared to our signatures. Thanks!)
