FUCK SADNESS

Three weeks ago we had to write an essay on world literature. The only absolutely necessary standard on books used was only that we had to mention one Russian book (‘cause I live in the biggest country in the world). I mentioned two. Besides them, I also mentioned Tolkien’s “Silmarillion” and mentioned elves in the brief summary of the plot so my argument based on it would had been scored.

My teacher gave me B.

For mentioning NOT Russian literature in WORLD literature essay.

For mentioning Tolkien’s book.

During the lesson, he had started to say thing like 'your knowledge of Tolkien belittled your knowledge of Russian literature’. Meanwhile I had no mistakes in Russian-literature part. And then he started to quote my essay in front of the whole class.

That moment I wished I hadn’t know Tolkien’s books. I wanted to burn just right then. Everybody had been watching at me with “you nerd” face expression. I started to hate myself.

Three weeks later, tomorrow, I wanted to watch my favourite part of LotR third film, where Theoden makes an epic speech right before Pelenor fields battle. But I couldn’t. Just as the video had started, I remembered all my feelings during that literature lesson. I closed the video.
