Need to gain back my confidence as a writer
A year or so ago I was very passionate about writing. Then I joined a writing site where everyone can critique your work and help you out. Everyone was getting awesome advice and there was this one guy, whose response to other's post I looked forward to the most. He would give the best feedback and make everyone so confident, give them nothing but praise and helpful criticism. So, I posted my first three rough draft chapters online. Everyone LOVED it. They said it was interesting and they couldn't wait for more. Yeah it was a bit long, but they couldn't stop reading it. No one gave me any feedback except to keep writing. I was happy.
Then, I got my favorite poster's review. He hated it. Absolutely despised it. He told me the story was way too slow, all the characters were two dimensional, I wasn't that descriptive, his little sister in kindergarten could do better, it was waaaaaay too long, and I should either give up on writing all together because I have no skill, or to go to college and take every course I can on psychology and writing so maybe I would have a better CHANCE to make a BARELY readable story.
I was crushed. I still am. I want to write, I want the world to see my story, and laugh and cry and be surprised, but most of all...I want them to enjoy it.
After his post, others immediately retaliated by telling me he was wrong, and that he was jealous, and that I shouldn't give up, but in the end...I threw down the pen.
That is why I am writing this. I want to gain back my confidence, and I would like to get positive feedback, if not helpful criticism. So with that being said...here is just a taste of my writing capability.
The Cosmic Universe is small. I, am the one that is truly big. Yes, the Universe is my creation. Everything you can possibly imagine is in it, but at the same time...it is not. Some things last eternally, forever in our hearts, while others are only there for a fleeting moment, never to be heard from again. The Cosmic Universe...is my imagination. What have you created recently?
