Which babysitter do you choose for your precious ones?
I not saying we all use our tablets and smart phones as babysitters all the time, but when we find ourselves on one of those long car journeys or battling a stubborn headache or simplyneed some space to think things through, we do.
For date night with our partners, we tend to call trusted babysitters, perhaps they are family members, or you have known their parents for years or you thoroughly went through background checks and references.
Why do we not do the same with the digital screen time our children are consuming?
‘Snack play’ games (the ones that last a few minutes and your child moves to the next one), are fun but what intrinsic value do they really have?
We believe that screen time can be fun AND also provide something meaningful.
Choose games that inspire, provoke the imagination, help channel and focus your child’s mind. Games that encourage creativity, help teach spatial relations and sharpen problem-solving skills. Games that also encourage teamwork and critical thinking, fostering listening and memory skills, reinforcing good social skills and promoting pattern recognition.
Out of the nearly one billion apps available today, it’s hard to discover the right content for your child, however digital ambivalence, digital apathy and digital ignorance isn’t the right answer.
Check out Nimbus Games. Watch your child’s face light up with a smile and perhaps a giggle and then witness the evolving discovery of rich colorful worlds, characters and adventure.
We pretty passionate about this, we’re parents as well. What do you think?
