Helen can’t remember ever being so sure she’s a mess. She knows, too well, everything she feels for Nikki is right and wrong at the same time but this… this is different. It’s nothing but wrong. Pain and hell and it’s all on one person. Nikki’s arms have always felt like home but she tangles her fingers tighter into Nikki’s shirt as she speaks, an unspoken plea not to leave. The words sting, they hurt to say, she’s always been so strong but this isn’t easy, not telling Nikki, not accepting what happened. “Bastard.” Nikki’s voice is rough with emotion and Helen trembles at it even as Nikki’s arms tighten around her, soft fingers stroking down her back over her shirt. It’s the first touch that’s felt right in months and Helen relaxes just slightly. “He’ll pay… somehow.” Nikki sounds sure and Helen sighs again, tucking herself into Nikki a little more firmly. “Don’t give him the pleasure of getting you in trouble Nik…” “Oh hell no, he’ll burn his own arse.” Nikki mutters and Helen half-laughs. “As long as you get yourself out of here… safely.” “I will.” Nikki promises and for once leaving doesn’t feel so terrifying, not when Nikki will be there soon enough.
