How About Our Whole Galaxy, Darling?

Yes, Orb Mare Rarity's plans do involve the entire galaxy, in point of fact. The only way to defend against a Kardashev Level 3 threat, is with another Kardashev Level 3 threat. And Rarity's strategy has the merit of never having been used ever before. Of course, there is a safety mechanism, one member of all three of their species will be needed to use it at full power. Think of today as a test, and don't worry. At this "low" level it's just like a large gamma ray burst.

Shadow is taken aback and impressed, but really he secretly relieved. Finally, a galactic something that he won't have to sacrifice himself to make right, for once.

Orb Mistress Amy is 100% on board with Orb Mare Rarity. You go, Girl Power! This time Amy is not going to play the part of Sonic's conscience and tell him what right is, so he can take all the glory. Besides, his task is still critical. This test will only work if Sonic, Shadow and DOOMGUY can keep Equestria off balance, while Orb Mistress Amy and the Orb Mares fire their gun.

Orb Mare Cadance ascends towards the aperture, and thus at the same time to the core of our galaxy. Her teacher has invested the most critical control function to her senior student. And Orb Mare Cadance has no intention of letting Orb Mare Rarity down.

Sonic knows when bravado will carry the day. Sonic also knows what wrong is. And this is nothing if not wrong. Using the whole of one galaxy's energy to detonate the core of another? It's monstrous on a scale far beyond anything Doctor Eggman ever attempted. But Sonic is conflicted, he can no longer convince himself that this is not the only way, not if what the Orb Mares have shown him is really true.

Orb Mare Pinkamena's idea of a party might be terrifying, disgusting or tragic to many. But how can you have a party, how can you have that extra special fun time with all of your friends, if an entire galaxy is dead? Is this regret, Pinkamena? Are you relearning remorse? Or do you merely quake at the sight of Orb Mare Rarity's power?

Gen 4 It Ain't. Even So, Expect To See Me Welcome It!

Well it's official now, not that I was ever really worried.

My Little Pony Generation 6 begins next year. This will include a new series coming to YouTube, apparently in the format of bi-weekly, 9 minute episodes. I can only imagine that there will be a tidal wave of merchandise, including toys, collectibles, clothing, accessories and Celestia knows what else. Maybe we'll truly get lucky and we'll also get that live action movie they've teased.

Anyway, back to Generation 6, what are my own irrelevant thoughts? In all honesty, I am immensely relieved that the show seems to star a Mane 4 devolved from THE Mane 6. I know there are going to be those ponies who may well be out for blood that Applejack doesn't seem to be present, and I am NOT pleased that Rarity isn't in evidence either.

But to see Twilight Sparkle back again...I have to be brutally honest here, that's THE WIN which I, myself was looking for.

Having Twilight Sparkle come back was what mattered the most to me.

Of course you'd have hoped that Tara Strong would have returned, but you know what, maybe she wasn't asked, maybe it was not up to her. There's an issue there. I won't get us tangled up in that certain issue surrounding Tara, but I won't fail to mention it either. Because it's a damn shame that it has become issue. It should be entirely irrelevant.

The ponies of Equestria would never tolerate Napoleon hanging a sign which reads;

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

Similarly, they would be just as outraged by a sign that says this;

"All animals are oppressed, but some animals are more oppressed than others."

Why?

Because Equestria has no need of such signs whatsoever, and that right there is a big reason why ponies are superior to humans.

Anyway;

I believe the actress who plays Spike wants nothing else to do with the franchise anymore, we'll see if Spike appears anyway in some form, he has been omnipresent up till now.

Here is what I am not going to do;

I am not going to poo-poo this, before I've watched a single episode.

The brony who made a pony out of me had to employ significant charm and finesse to get me to sit down and watch my first episode, if MLP has taught me one thing, it's to not judge a book by its cover.

I was not a fan of Tell Your Tale, because it was just a seething maw of unrelenting chaos and pandemonium. I also would still have preferred twenty minute episodes. But you know what, it's probably cost prohibitive right now, because every industry and the economy as a whole are so messed up at present. Also, the target demographic are probably going to have trouble sitting still for 9 minutes anyways.

Tell Your Tale did demonstrate to me that the 9 minute format can work, more or less. They need to tone down the chaos which Tell Your Tale never gave us a break from, and they need to not veer into ugly, ironic self-parody, of the kind that we saw in Pony Life.

What I really want is simple;

I want them to let Twilight Sparkle continue to teach us important lessons about the Magic of Friendship. That is what made Generation 4 great, but gen 4 should not have a monopoly on that. If Generation 6 and hopefully the new movie are sincere, fun, entertaining and if they have values, then they will be doing their job well enough for me.

Hopefully we can find a place in the sun for Generation 6. We don't want Hasbro to realize that nothing they ever do is ever going to emerge from Gen 4's shadow. If that happens, we're all going to become ironic, post-postmodern curators of dead history...

...oh wait...

Anyway; Yes, I absolutely will be engaging with Generation 6, both in my artmaking, and hey, it might even spur me to wade into fan activities like reviews and commentaries. I suspect that any such offerings along those lines will be more centered on the merchandise. I tend to be content to watch the show, and wait and see, rather than waste bandwidth on speculations, and commenting my own personal headcanon. I try to cut myself off at captions and occasional journal entries. I try to let my art speak for me.

Lastly, I am going to give Gen 6 plenty of time to find its footing. It will have to be cringy indeed before I turn my nose up at it. Let's give it a chance. Remember, we're ponies. Even if something is untoward at first, we don't want to act like angry bipeds when a new creature arrives in Ponyville.
