Hisui has enough on his plate, as an emancipated minor and a Clan reject with a possible cursed spirit wrapped around his neck.
He doesn’t need the attention of an obviously dangerous man, too.
“Tell me,” Toji said in a low, deep voice as he leaned into Hisui’s space, “have your shoulders been bothering you? Your neck?”
Hisui’s free hand darted up to hold his throat, but he managed to redirect it to grab the front of his shirt instead. Toji watched him do so with sharp, glittering eyes.
Unease crept up Hisui’s rigid spine, settling in like frost in his lungs. His throat had been bothering him for weeks now. Too long to pass it off as a cold. It was getting harder and harder to speak normally the more time passed, like there was a hand squeezing his vocal cords tight. A hand… Or something he couldn’t see.
