Cold Season arrives! Understanding how Inversions can help keep you safe from the common cold
Inversions & the Cardiovascular System
In a nutshell, they improve blood flow of fresh nutrients throughout the body, including the lungs where colds are borne, and temporarily lower heart rate and blood pressure, which may be rising during a cold.
Although always better to practice preventatively than to cure
Persons with blood pressure problems, or glaucoma should consult a doctor before practicing.
Always come out of inversions slowly to avoid light-headedness
Cited:
Inverting body affects blood flow, increasing return of blood from torso and lower extremities through the inferior vena cava to the heart
The heart pumps more efficiently when the chambers are filled optimally and cardiac output increases
Oxygenated blood is pumped out of the heart through the aorta and distributed around the body
The aorta and carotid arteries have pressure receptors that aid in regulating blood pressure. These receptors respond to increased cardiac output or blood pressure by signalling the brain to increase parasympathetic outflow
This results in a slowing of the heart rate and lowering of the blood pressure
Conversely when the blood pressure is low (hypotension), signals from the baroreceptors decrease, with cardiac output and blood pressure rising.
The net effect is homeostasic balancing of the cardiac output and blood pressure
Inverting the body in persons with normal blood pressure increases firing of the baroreceptors, thus increasing the parasympathetic outflow (from the vagus & glossopharyngeal nerves)
The result is a temporarily lowered heart rate and blood pressure
Always come out slowly to avoid light-headedness
Persons with blood pressure problems, or glaucoma should consult a doctor before practicing.

How to get motivated and feel good. (Beautify!) - Vanity, Ego, Pride vs INNER BEAUTY
I look at my lipglosses, I see them when I wake up because they aren’t put away right now.
I see a colour I’d like to wear today
I don’t always normally wear colour on my lips
I have no where to go worth doing so
I’m not trying to impress anyone
Truly I will only maybe see my parents for the next few hours, and then a 121 client- who actually if I wear lip gloss, I feel I am being unprofessional in my line of work
I feel the same about mascara
It also kind of irritates my eyes if I leave it on all day
And the lip gloss my lips
What do they put in this stuff?!
But... I saw this program the other day & it really sparked why I should maybe try applying make up more often, if I feel I want to
I mean today if it sparks some joy & encourages me to move, then why the hell not!?!
The homeless on the streets of America are treated by their fellow Samaritans in the beauty industry, big manufacturers supply the make up, the beauticians apply it.
They get their hair done & make up done and FEEL GOOD!
At one particular moment a lady explains how good it makes her feel to have a little mascara on
... so why am I not treating myself to some more often?
A few reasons, yes it takes more time, yes it’s a waste of product and time if I’m not seeing anyone to impress or don’t have to, and makes me feel less professional in my work, and irritates my body a little over time
But also, I’m told to let go of my ego, my pride, and vanity are in ways the enemy. I know that there are levels of this to be untrue, we must still be hygienic, celebrate, displaying a shrine to the divine if we do so wish.
So why not show this shrine in beautification of my own divinity - surely this is a celebration of myself, my femininity (if that’s how I personally express myself), of my creativity too!
So provided it doesn’t steer me from the path of my deeper goals, I’ll go for the vanity a bit more, and maybe you should if you so wish!
Be proud to beautiful both inside and out!!
Let your ego be in check but be friends with it. Looking in the mirror and disliking what we see is common, not always a healthy place to start- no, if this is wheee you’re at seek some help, say kind words to yourself, look for your beautiful features to enhance and be grateful you have them. Your framework, your body, your hair and skin will shine if you treat it well, and think of it well! - Shine inside & out!!
Learn about face yoga, practice it! I LOVE what Karen Gider has to share from Face Yoga Scotland. Follow her, listen to her podcast on Well-being Radio. It’s great! Come to her workshops, she’s truly inspiring & the system is truly amazing!
And watch this to become a little more aware of the beauty industry & how it may fit with your values, if you want to.
You’ve heard what I gained from it.
Motivation to feel more beautiful for me. And motivation is key!!!
...Maybe when I tidy up I’ll leave those lipglosses on display, a colour reminder of how I feel today!

Celebrating change! 🌷💙⭐️
Sobriety & Veganism
Renunciation to many sounds punishing and depriving, but if you truly feel that way about it I think you’re really just not ready...
I really want to celebrate my changes right now, whilst I’ve only just started to take the bigger steps in to the realm of putting my money where my mouth is; saying I want to be vegan forever, and I want to be sober forever - the fact that I can say those words, & I have belief that the words are true... that to me is pretty huge!!!
Not only do I want to celebrate my change, I want to share that it is a celebration to me with you, with my friends, family, with everyone who actually doesn’t get it - I want you to know this is a good thing. It’s a choice I’m happy to make. And I’d love you to support me, and be happy that I’m strong enough to make the decision, that I’m confident to, and that my beliefs are really valued with you too.
Sobriety and Veganism: why they’re both pretty important to me
Without wanting to bang on about this and that & certinaly not wanting to shame anyone at all, it might be interesting just to know some of the reasons behind my choice.
Sobriety
To find myself enjoying the ocean of life without the aid of drugs is essentially empowering.
To find myself aiding my enjoyment of life with the aid of drugs is essentially disempowering.
Power and control - I can relinquish, however experience tells me that the storms build quickly from as much as the tiniest puff of a cloud. The storms can rise higher than ever expected and leave me not just washed out in the rain for a day or two, but dismantled and demolished, awaiting reconstruction, all power demobilised until nature returns a flicker of light. And just as in nature that flicker arises in its own time.
So, the long and short of it is, although I really wouldn’t class myself as having much of a problem with addiction to substances- I do have a mental health concerns to overcome which are triggered and magnified by the effects of leaning on the aids of enjoyment & coping.
And understanding the depth of the reality of that to me has been huge.
Maybe one day I’ll change my mind, but I don’t see why I should. Life is an experience to enjoy & I’d really like to waste no more time struggling with that.
Veganism / Plant-basted Eater
I don’t know if there’s much a difference, I feel like vegans may get angry if you claim to be one but break the rules, and plant-based people are more flexible and tolerant of the individuals needs and availability to resources on a daily basis.
I certainly don’t want to be a pain in the ass about my beliefs. However...
I would like a little support by appreciating its a choice that aligns me to my values - and similarly I wouldn’t ask you to step outside of your values just for convenience.
My values lie in the following reasons to which I won’t explain deeply as there’s plenty arguments & reasonings out there to explore if you find it interesting:
1. Personal Health
2. Non-violence
3. Global environment
It’s really that simple! They’re all HUGE values for me so I’m serious enough to say hey, I’ll eat plants 🙂👍
And you know what?! I don’t fancy eating meat!!
We are SO blessed with choice & I’m personally very grateful for this, I have helped pave the way a little in my consumer purchasing habits along the past couple of years but new stuff is arriving and it’s amazing! Plus there’s so much help out there guidance of great tasty alternatives, it’s actually refreshing!
Have the autumnal winds of change finally arrived for me this year?
I’ve been woken really early this morning by the wind. And kept awake by a strange and unearthly squeaking outside my room; maybe the plant that climbs against my window.
I’ve been down again for a while, it’s been some time since I guess I’ve really taken good care of myself. It’s been a slower return this time too, but I’ve begun clawing back to myself, and the practices I know to help me feel good.
It may be early but I’d like to stay awake and get started with some of these practices already.
I played a deep relaxation audio my therapist delivered to me in a session & observed the deeper contents of my mind.
I treated myself “one last time” and “why not it makes me feel good, sod it”, “I deserve it” to some sugary sweet milk chocolates last night. After a long day and late finish at work, following a MacDs “might as well”. But my mouth and throat hates the stuff. I dislike how it dries me out, like it’s burnt me. There is a solution, Panchakarma, cleansing practices help us to regain good health and wellbeing, oil swilling is one. 20mins & good to go, plus I have my favourite almond oil in atm 😊
I can take a short bath, and feel fresh to start the days practices whilst I do my oil swill, I can soothe my aching body in the heat.
During my deep relaxation I breathe in to my chakras & I am shown that I want to continue reading my book on chakras I haven’t read much on. Maybe I can do this during my waking.
I really would like to continue with more deeper meditation today with ease- without feeling distracted. Maybe I’ll practice on my mat rather than my bed & begin with some light yoga to ease my body into comfort. Ideally practice should not be in bed so as not to fall asleep. I could like the fire and get comfortable in front of it. I’ll have to let the family know to try not to disturb me, my environment isn’t ideal but it’s not impossible if I take care to prepare.
Maybe I can practice another element of Panchakarma- Abhaynaga which I love so much and have neglected to include in my routine for a long enough time. Self massage with will help my joints and muscles, using oil will soothe, cleanse and nourish my skin & lymph nodes and improve my circulation.
If I can brave it I can finish a warm bath with a COLD shower, improving my body’s ability to cope with the cold. Brrr. Just the idea puts me off, but I can start with cool not cold, and stop when I want.
I’ll use incense in my bath and enjoy the aroma. I’ll choose the aroma to use by closing my eyes and inhaling the scent, sensing how this makes me feel. If they’re all good they’ll all go in!
... this is a message of love and happiness to begin back on my journey of self love, a reminder and congratulations to have reawoken a touch more right now. Excited feelings of more things that i enjoy being unveiled to me really soon fill me, things that I know why and how I enjoy. At the same time I feel sad, I feel real sorrow that I forget these things, but I feel happy and enriched that I can remember. I will remember, and that’s why I take time to write.
This was going to be a shorter message to a friend to wish her on her way today of following her own challenging dreams, all following arguably a harder day of falling down herself. A message of understanding & hopefully to help inspire that getting back up can be easy, when we deeply remember how, and how we remember can be the biggest challenge of all.
I decided it might be a little selfish to send such a lengthy text, they may feel overwhelmed. And realised the message may as well be written outside and recorded for myself... but I can send a link, we must celebrate for ourselves, but equally importantly we must celebrate together. How funny my celebratory causes must seem!
I’ll always care being an empath anyway ...but for sure I’m 💯 letting their reflections on me remain on the glass & not within me 😊💖🙌🌟 (at Coventry, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4LfJv7AwmM/?igshid=189vu9l87tvmi
I’m a good few weeks in to my 10week program now, it’s been a bit rocky, felt unwell for a couple of weeks at the start. Missed out on work opportunities, again 😩but doing great now!!! I’m starting to notice more shifts in my thought processes and behaviours, it’s now a perfect time to realign with my goals. I’ve had zero caffiene no drama (bar maybe a twinkle from some choc when I have been naughty & if it’s in my chai @yogitea ???) I use fresh OJ for a morning pick me up & going to try cucumber for an afternoon version. I’ve had alcohol on two occasions after careful deliberation of whether it meets my complicated reasoning of why I don’t want to be consuming alcohol frequently. I will be adding an extra week on to my alcohol free program for every single occasion I have a “cheat day”, prolonging the commitment to making a lasting change in behaviour that meets my desires to drink / not to drink all around! I’ve started meal prepping more, feeling energetic helps! (& having limited resources!) Realigning with my state of finances feeling like i really don’t want to be wasteful anymore, money is not exactly important to me, and yet a small amount can be a great resource... I feel like being more careful with it is going to boost my creativity & boost my resourcefulness too ... feeling hopeful!!! 😁 watch this space 🤞🤞🤞 I’m also considering joining those who fast during Ramadan this year, I feel I may be ready to challenge my sense to constantly overeat! 😆 defo waiting til after Christmas for this one! Also keen to consider fruiting / vegging. I could actually feel my kidneys yesterday during my abhayanga, although I’ve not been drinking 🤔 thinking a specified cleanse is in order #regrammer @astrowicks (at Northolt, Slough, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4JlGPagcJQ/?igshid=12rv0dh8ht27c

Day 1 - not bad 👌
Breathed through some headaches and anxiety
Pressed through tiredness mostly but did have a nap 😂 1st in ages too!!! 😬
Only gluten was in 1 slice brown sourdough bread, in gravy
Only sugar was in nectarine , parsnip? & maple syrup on cereal
Cacao powder with coconut milk is nice
Did eat some dairy in cream cheese already in fridge, and beef and salmon the same.
Otherwise, on the wagon!

Day 3 analysis
Got to the point now where I know I’m about to make changes so I’m cramming all the indulgences in before I do. Hopefully it’ll put me off.
I’m feeling willpower increase though.
I feel in control & I feel things are going well
Where I’m not in control I don’t mind, I’m happy with my mind, with allowing things to be, ready to face the challenge.
I’ve even started thinking about long term continuation of habits I form rather than reaching the end of my program and allowing myself treats
I think I’ve decided to indulge myself properly on the naughties only once a month. It’s hard though cos what do you choose, you can’t do it all in one day, and you would like to share experiences with different people
Also I have thought about being awkward and decided that I will not reduce myself to this, my goals are not so important to cause difficulty for others, I should plan to enable myself where possible. I may have to meditate on certain simple decisions to be made ahead of the game in order to stick to my goals in personality, behaviour and consumption.
100% haven’t actually done one in a while but - headstand always make me happy when I’m sad! #Regrammer @yogspiration (at Coventry, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B22Ufi9ALE9/?igshid=pu89fp3cdhd0
