Though TBF if were looking for Kurt Russel films to turn into Sonic Godzilla pitches....the perfect one is clearly starring right in our faces....

Big Trouble in Little Station Square

It's tricky for me to speculate on this bc so often there are parameters for the pitch.

For example, I pitched on something late last year that was a specific character combo the editors wanted to see. However, I wasn't getting one half of the combo right for them and then that was scrapped. This was my first Enigma-related pitch. (I also think it might have been scrapped bc it used a very similar above ground / underground plot device to what's just been happening in the main Sonic series, and they probably didn't want to even poke that bear so they just let it go.)

Then I was asked to pitch on a solo character story, and I like to give editors multiple options so I gave them like three or four plots, and I was like "WAIT DO WE HAVE SERIES POTENTIAL HERE" and I felt so good about it bc this was essentially my dream kind of Sonic project. But ultimately they passed on those pitches bc Sega wanted to go in a different direction for the solo story. (I believe Enigma was in there too?)

That said, it's hard to imagine what I would write in Sonic's world without some kind of assigned task. So far it's been character focused for me, whether it's Sonic x Godzilla or that character combo from last year or that solo character story. The real truth is that I'm willing to pitch on any kind of Sonic story. Sonic himself is so wonderful to write, all of them are really tbh, but I don't know what I would pitch until I'm given the nature of the assignment!

But let's pretend and I'll just make up something right now. So what kind of assignment would I want to be given? Hmm well my solo character project was basically the assignment I would want, but I guess if I had to choose a new one...

The Chaotix Detective Agency is busy. Like, oddly super busy! Way more cases than they can handle. So during a run-in with Amy, they ask if she can take over a case or two that they just don't have the time to solve. She's reluctant to do it but they really need help, plus they swear that these are their easy cases! It'll be simple stuff. So she sighs and takes a stack from them. In the course of working on her first case, she encounters Rouge and it seems like maybe Rouge is really the one behind the mystery...? But, as it turns out, Rouge is just trying to solve it too. They reluctantly team up and not only solve that mystery but a second one in the process too, like it turns out they're great at doing this together. That's when they realize all of these cases Amy got from Chaotix might be connected and so the two or them forge an alliance to solve mysteries as ROSE & ROUGE

Okay so here's what happened with Silver! My initial crossover idea was to play with time. So an old grizzled Sonic arrives from the future, he has an eye patch and lots of scars, and his ship is the hollowed out shell of Jet Jaguar. He says "TRUST THE MONSTERS IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE! YOU MUST WORK WITH THEM!"

The Sonic editor at the time (who's now one of the approvals people at Sega) was like "we already have a time traveler, use Silver instead" and I was like "I prefer grizzled old Snake Plissken Sonic but okay Silver is cool too" and that was that. So from then on, Silver was a big part of the plan and it was like that for about a year and a half or two years even until someone, I don't remember who, was like "nah sorry no time travel allowed"

There might have also been a later 'no time travel' version with Silver, maybe he just had a vision about it and took action? Or maybe he was like "this is what led to my doomed future!" I believe the later versions swapped Jet Jaguar for MOGUERA. I dunno, I would need to go look back at my old files, so much has changed since then and it's really been for the best. I love what we have now, altho I do still like the idea of old grizzled Sonic too.
