I want to make a post about anal sex, because Iâve seen so much about it on this website, and most of the information is not good.
The three important things to remember with anal are LUBRICATION, COMMUNICATION, and RELAXATION.
LUBE: The anus is not self lubricating and therefore you need to apply a fair amount of lube to make sure everything goes in smoothly. Whether you use your finger or a lube shooter, LUBE UP! You want to use a thick lubricant. Gel lubricant is going to be very cushiony and padded and wonât dry out as fast. One good option is âSliquid Sassyâ. Or if youâre not using any silicone toys you can opt for a silicone lubricant as it wonât absorb into your skin and you wonât have to reapply.
Letâs debunk some anal myths!
âItâs going to hurtâ - If done correctly anal should not hurt. If you stick something inside yourself, be it vaginally or anally and it hurts, that is your bodyâs way of telling you that something is wrong and you need to stop! If you are in pain and you keep going you could seriously injure yourself. So just take it slowly and relax. When the anus is relaxed things go in it quite easily.
âIâm going to get poop on thingsâ - Feces are stored up in the colon, not in the rectum. If you have had normal bowel movements throughout the day then you should not be running into actual feces when inserting objects in your anus. It is possible to run into fecal matter though. If you are worried about this then take a shower before hand. Or run a finger (you can wear a glove if you want) around the inside of your anus before you have sex. If youâre really, really worried about it then you can use an anal douche.
âIâm going to become looseâ - The anus is a muscle. It needs to be used to stay strong. Every time you go to the bathroom you are using it. You will not wear it out.
Letâs talk toys!  - First rule about putting toys in your butt is that they MUST HAVE A FLARED BASE!!!!!! Unlike your vagina which has the cervix blocking things from getting lost inside your body, your anus doesnât have anything there. That means that if you stick something up there without a flared base, you will lose it, and you will have to go to the emergency room to get it out. The base also needs to be wider than the largest part of the toy. So that means  all those princess plugs that everyone loves so much are actually not technically anal safe. There have been people who have lost those toys inside them. Just be aware of that when purchasing your toy because if you become relaxed and aroused enough you can lose those inside you. Not a fun experience.
Toys for Men (prostate toys)- menâs g-spots are in their butts! Just like womenâs g-spot toys which have a curve, menâs prostate toys are curved too. A woman can use a curved anal toy also, it just wonât do anything special for her. There are special toys made specifically for prostate massage with pinpointed ends. Aneros is a great brand for this.
If youâre a beginner, you want to choose something with a tapered end. Silicone, glass, and stainless steel are really the only materials that should be going in your butt. They do sell elastomer plugs, but it is a porous material which harbors bacteria over time. Thatâs not really a material that you want going in your butt more than once.
