not to be a bitch but i think brilliant minds is proof that a lot of tumblr fans who want their ship to be together because of Representation are full of shit because what do you mean there's a show where the main character is gay and has a relationship with another main character, there are three women of color in the main cast, one of whom is a lesbian (with anxiety rep) whose girlfriend is a recurring character, there's currently three other men of color in the main/supporting cast, one of whom is gay, and all these characters have strong emotional storylines that are real and heartfelt and not blown up for messy drama, and all of these characters love each other so much and respect each other so much, and the whole thesis of the show is what if doctors actually treated their patients like real people and did everything not just to treat their sickness but to help them live full and meaningful lives with it,

okay but now if this story ISN'T about ppl's prejudices against ex-cons i'm for real gonna be so mad because literally all kev's done since he turned up in the village is mind his own business while he tries to spend his dying days with his hubby and bake a cake for his kind landlady and in return he's had to deal with a) hubby's ex drunkenly out him/their marriage then continually snipe at them at every opportunity, b) snide comments from the local cafe staff, c) the ex's best mate randomly rocking on up at his door telling him his hubby loves someone else so he should let him go, d) a local responding with unnecessary sarcasm to kev's perfectly civil attempt to buy some icing sugar and e) a total stranger interjecting to imply he might actually be using said icing sugar to create a dangerous weapon...!!!! and then they act all scandalised and scared when he loses his temper??? how is this poor man meant to change/be better/leave his past behind when he's stuck in this hellish village of small-minded busybodies and bitter exes??????
