Kailan kaya ako maaanigan ng kumakahel na araw

Mayroong isang matandang lalaki. Suot niya ay isang gusot na bughaw na polo at isang pinaglumaang pantalon. Kitang kita ang mga ugat sa kanyang mukha. Ang kanyang kaliwang kamay ay nakababa habang hinahawakan ng kanyang kanang kamay ang kanyang kaliwang braso. Sa kanyang likod ay isang logo ng isang kilalang kumpanya na tila ba ay isang itak na nakatutok sa kanyang puso. Habang siya ay nakatitig sa sahig, siya ay naglalakad papunta sa itak. Ngunit malapit na siyang abutan ng itak kung siya ay hahakbang pa ng isang beses. Here is my entry on the activity on making a poem for a painting exhibited in the Sining Makiling Art Gallery in the DL Umali Hall, UPLB. The art that I used is entitled, “Before Dark” by Lara Latosa.

I chose the word “maghihintay”, because for the past years, that’s what I’ve been doing. Waiting for my time to graduate from the University, waiting for every break after a semester, and waiting for the love of my life (which I think I already found? Who knows?). Despite my waiting, I will never grow weary of waiting. For this is what the LORD God has called me to do. With every day passing, my patience grows even more and more.

Here is my entry on our activity in making a mask which shows a virtue that I have entitled, “Compassion” The colors that are seen in these mask depict different and contrasting attitudes of the people around me: red for anger, blue for calmness, yellow for shyness, green for friendliness, and orange for excitement.  This shows that whatever the people around me are, I can show the compassion to be friends with them and help them whenever they need me. I think I have the ability to relate to them on a very personal level. That is why I chose compassion.

It depicts my emotions during the semester which were a bit shaky since I was very confused and lost in everything that I did. But hey, I’m still here! 

Supplementing our critical definition of art, we have put up a creative presentation on one of the types of art which theater. With a allude to the movie “The Greatest Showman”, we analyze each element of theater and explain it.

To understand art, our group in ARTS 1 have prepared a critical presentation of it. Contained in this presentation is the history of art in the world and most importantly, in our country.  At the last part of it is our own definition of art, which we think is involved in invoking an individual’s feelings and emotions and motivates them to act according to that feeling and/or emotion.

As such, I’ve done many projects where I saw my artistic ability, as unrefined as it may be, flourish. Some of these involve painting a feeling with no defined form or shape, the usage of words and language in depicting an image or scenario, called ekphrasis, the tableau where our painted masks reflecting a certain virtue of ours were used, and the infamous creative presentation on what theatre is. All of these challenged my artistic side of my brain to resurrect and manifest in my artworks, both individually or with my groupmates. Now after a semester in studying Arts, you may ask me, what is arts for you? My answer is this: it is the expression of every emotion and situation in the human experience. It is the depiction of ideologies and beliefs. And most importantly, it is a reflection of the creation of the universe in which the human mind is the center.
