Things I have done since being MIA:
Saw The Notebook (The Musical) and cried like a baby. Went to Mexico. Got sick in Mexico. Spent three days in the ICU after coming home (NO I did not drink the water, I got severe food poisoning AND managed to not die on the plane ride home).
Now I'm home and feeling well and ready to write. Are you?
Me: Ah, yes I can get to replies.
Also me: I leave for Mexico in two days.
So now that work is done bending me over a metaphorical table, and I shall try to bring my laptop (try being the key word my wife may kill me). And I shall show you all photos of where we're staying.

They knew it was coming. He'd told her he was enlisting, and he had tried to prepare her. Honestly, up until the night on the tower, he was sure she didn't even know he existed. But Cloud stood there, pack on his shoulder and sighed. "If I'd have known better, I'd have taken the time to talk to you more." He admitted.

CLoud paused, unsure of what to say to that. ".... So am I like a headache?" He offered, not expecting the thoughts of him playing in Rufus's head to be necessarily warm and fuzzy. "If alls you've got on your brain is me, Shinra's in trouble."
He can't tell what day it is... What time it is... Christ at this point, Cloud isn't even sure what year it is. Riddled with injuries, blood pooling from wounds here and there, he had all but dragged himself to Midgar. It was safe, Shinra seldom sullied their hands with whatever was being done in the slums and he, frankly, needed to find somewhere where no one would recognize him. A headache hits quickly, like a thunderstorm and disappears, leaving him near totally incapacitated as he settles into the mud, rain tapping along the exposed skin where fabric is torn. Someone would find him, surely. Someone, anyone. He just hoped whoever found him was a friend, not a foe. The buster blade upon his back at this moment and time was anything but effective.

A silly starter.
It had been non-stop since they discovered the baby bird. Aerith was tending to their little friend and adjust his feathers just so and comparing every few minutes, much to his slight amusement. That Zu had only gotten the better of him because it was a hit from the bird, or a deep dive into Cosmo Canyon. One of them was survivable, certainly. The other.... a little more on the iffy side. Aerith shoots him a playful look and then grins, tilting her head. "Well, I did pick enough to make two...we could match! What do you think?" Honestly, she just wants to make Cloud smile. The ghostly images of one are a rare treat, and she'd really like to see a genuine one. "I think after everything we've dealt with so far, we could take a break for flower crowns."
Like he would tell her no. Sometimes he had to be a hardass. They had things to do. People to help. A quest to continue on, but every once in a while.... it did help to just exist and breathe. Moving to sit down completely, he hummed. "I still think those colors suit you way more." Toying with one of the flowers in his hand, he watched her. "Wanna show me how to make one? I don't think I've ever done this before."

He has to remind himself to not be an ass in this moment, so he tries hard not to be. "You've looked better." Nice. "But you could look worse, I suppose." It's the even tone he always uses, so it's never certain whether he's using sarcasm or just being blunt. Either way, everything he says should be taken with a grain of salt. Or sugar, to sweeten the blow. "Can I get you anything?"
Her jaw dropped. For just a moment, Yuffie was stunlocked, right up until the meaning of his words sunk in. “I could look better?” The words are a near screech, both horrified and offended. The only thing that stopped her from attempting to smack him on the head was that she’d been stupid enough to ask the question.
A deep breath. “No, that one's on me I should know better than to ask you. How are you surrounded by so many hot girls and you are this monumentally bad at talking to them?” An annoyed huff left her before she reached down for the remains of her beloved cape and frowned.
“You can get me a new moogle cape because this ones ruined.” That one she was actually upset about.
Ah, so that was the wrong thing. Huffing, the ex SOLDIER's arms folded over his chest as he looked away from her, shaking his head. "You're being dramatic. I didn't say you looked bad." She was such a touchy little gal. He glanced back at her, brow perked, and fired a shot right back. "How are you surrounded by said girls and not asking them their opinions?" Looking at her cape, he wanted to groan. "That thing makes you stick out like a sore thumb. I thought Ninja's were supposed to be... yanno... stealthy?"

Aerith can't help but chuckle a bit. She doesn't really think she could be a ninja someday. No, she's too clumsy and she'd be noticed right on the spot if she was trying to hide. However, she's not trying to hide at all. No, she just wants to check on her friend. She can tell Cloud has a lot on his mind, and she refuses to let him in that state.
"The impending doom of the world and all the little things in between, mmh ?" she repeats, raising an eyebrow before she lets a smile rest on her lips. "How about you share what's on your mind with me ? Or with anyone else, actually. Just don't keep everything bottled up." Aerith always keeps a lot inside herself, but that's Cloud they're talking about now.
He eyed her steadily, listening to her advice. "You know.... You still haven't learned how to chat with the flowers... so who do you talk to?" He shot back with ease. He kept such careful eyes on her, paid attention to her movements and words. He could see it, sometimes. A lingering worry or sadness that flittered away as quickly as it barged in. "Flowers can't bloom without some sun and water." Looking down, he shook his head. "Sometimes I feel like I'm not me.... Like somewhere, inside I'm all... mixed up. Sometimes I feel like I can't trust my own brain. Doesn't make sense but it's there. Like a parasite." Like Sephiroth eating at his conscious. "Sounds pretty stupid, I know."
"Sorry, but if that's meant to be intimidating you're gonna have to find another target. I get worse threats when I'm training." He reaches into his pocket, suddenly tossing something to Cloud- a small usb stick. "Next time you guys go anywhere with security cameras, try and actually remember where they are, First Class. That things loaded with shit from you guys walking around like it's nothing." He paused for a moment, hands on his hips.
It was probably going to land him in big shit for doing it- all the footage had been cleaned up, and any trace of them was all on that little stick that was now out of his hands. But he only gave a small shrug, as if it was a small weight off his shoulders.
"Before you ask, I owed someone a favour, and now I've done what I gotta do. I do recommend destroying that stick though, when you get a chance. If anyone else in the Turks gets their hands on it well... I'm not gonna be responsible." He said simply.
He tensed a little as the lithe young man made his move, stepping into his space... but when his hand extended, Cloud eyed the tiny piece of tech skeptically, eyes flashing up. Mistrust was apparent, and who could blame him? Anything Shinra touched was either poisoned or just plain evil. But Cloud took it, listening closely. "You're helping us..... because of a favor?" Someone had to be pulling his leg. "Risking a shit ton of trouble, and we both know that's putting it mildly.... What's your angle?" Daddy issues? Sticking it to the man? The man being Rufus? Cloud couldn't quite piece together what the situation here was, or if it was even worth the risk but he felt in that moment the simplicity in the others tones meant he was telling the truth. This would help. ".... Will do. Who was the favor for?"
